Public Routes
Visitors to Geocaching Australia who have not yet signed up for an account can now view routes which have been made public. You can make your current routes, or any future route public by ticking the "Public" options when you edit or create you route.
http://geocaching.com.au/route/
You can also get there by hovering over the Caches tab and then select View by Route.
To avoid confusion over people who are visiting the site public routes that are shown via the routes links will cover all cache types, all containers, difficulty 1 to 5, terrain 1 to 5 and will only show Geocaching Australia caches.
When YOU view your OWN route, even if it is public, the attributes set BY you FOR you will still be used.
Non-member viewers can also see the caches along the route on a Google Map, as a list or they can download a GPX file or ZIPped GPX file for those routes.
If you choose to make your route public, please try to use a meaningful name.
i.e. not "my happy holiday", but something like START location to END location VIA location ON road / freeway / highway /etc.
e.g. Melbourne to Ballarat via Ballarat Road (Western Hghway).
e.g. Launceston - St Helens - Hobart
Searching will look for terms in the name of the route, so be helpful and meaningful where you can.
If you have a route that you think could benefit visitors to the site, please consider making it public.
