Re: Velomap/Openmtbmap Experience?
I've been using the OpenMTBMaps for pretty much as long as I've been caching. They're easy to install (on Windows at least - a simple EXE file to run), detailed and able to be customised to suit your GPS screen type at installation time (eg. Wide lines for dull Oregon/Dakota screens). I'm a subscri...

Re: Velomap/Openmtbmap Experience?
I have no idea but seems pretty modest price assuming the coverage is good for AUS or where ever you are going and I assume its just designed for MTB .. . Australian use mainly ... Velomap is for road use, well focused on road cyclists but the Openmtbmap is aimed at mountain bikers and bushwalkers....

Thanks

Re: Garmin Oregon 650
I have received my Garmin Oregon 600 from Highly Tuned Athletes early this week. It came speaking Dutch :) Also got the bike mount. Just need to set it all up now and see how it goes on a geocache ride. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-UAo-cGcdp9s/UbFNTPMlzmI/AAAAAAAAJW0/9Lp4XXKGoR8/w1121-h772-no/...

Re: Garmin Oregon 650
Does anyone have any experience with the ScreenPatronus screen protectors or for that matter the 3M Vikuiti™ screen protector ARMR220 for the Oregon 600? They are more expensive than other eBay options so wondering if they are worth the dollars.
Thanks
Andrew
Thanks

Re: Garmin Oregon 650
Hi
Well took the plunge and ordered a Garmin Oregon 600 express delivered for $410.00 from Highly Tuned Athletes along with a bike mount. Hopefully it plays nice and also works with well with my HRM and Cadence sensors.
BTW has anyone tried using a non-Garmin rechargeable setup?

Garmin 60CSX Alarm Sounds When Turned Off
Hi I have dragged my old Garmin 60CSX out of the box and fired it up. All good except that when I turn it off, it sets off the alarm which continues until I remove a battery. Any one who still uses or did use a 60CSX have any ideas as to what might be the problem or a possible solution? Thanks Andrew

Re: Munzees!
WIth my brief foray into Munzees (it's been a while since I captured one or even bothered to check if there were any nearby) I still don't get the idea of "points". They don't achieve anything, surely number of finds is more relevant but it's not something the app shows me. I can understand maybe a...

Re: Garmin Oregon 650
Sorry, can't read your link. Yes, the 600 series have a 4,000 waypoint limit, but they can index 4 million geocaches. I used gsak to load the caches in the new GGZ format. GSAK can generate GGZs automatically. See http://garminoregon6xx.wikispaces.com/Hardware for the model specs. Cool. I didn't re...

Re: Garmin Oregon 650
Personally if you have a smart phone I don't see a reason to buy the 650 vs 600. Maybe for metro/car based caching but not so sure for buswalking (days) and bicycle touring which is my preferred caching experience or part of it. I also prefer to do my caching on a bicycle and mix in Waymarking, Mun...

Re: Garmin Oregon 650
How are you able to do that? I was under the impression it was limited to 4,000 waypoints unless using Opencaching - Garmin Supportmaccamob wrote:mtrax wrote: We're also about to head off to the US, and have loaded about 20,000 caches (so far) in anticipation. .

Re: Garmin Oregon 650
Mine got delivered today and, without having used it for caching yet, I'm very impressed! (Obviously doesn't take much). Local supplier? My preferred supplier, Highly Tuned Athletes is not showing stock :( Andrew hmm there prices are not all that good for the Oregon 600, johnny appleseed and cartog...
