Re: Well this is getting trickier...
Since posting this 5 months ago, I have found 83 caches inside 30km of home (including 4 of the ones on islands), and the number of unfound caches has GONE UP from 35 to 36! Keeping up is becoming the challenge... 30km?!? I have 7 unfound of the 42 GC within 2km of home. 8-[ The saturation rate aro...

Re: Some BIG caching days ahead?
Well done on some big numbers....although I would have thought the way things are now...300+ was on the cards. . To put things into perspective...when I did 215 in a day on my own...I started with the NXY series on bike for a total of 55 or so (a few were missing), then headed off to do the APM seri...

Re: Geosportz
Maybe the target should indeed be twofold. 1. A point limit to target (without going over). 2. Getting as close to 30 events as you can. That is going to be tough. This is my favourite proposal so far...if you want strategy, you would definitely have it using this method. Also, it wouldn't introduc...

Re: Geosportz
True, and I like that idea...but at the end of the day, you want to reward people for the effort they put into it. If someone wants to do only 25...then they can still win, but they will need to score very high on the caches they find. It doesn't mean they can't win, just makes it a little more toug...

You could award joint FTF's? Allow covert his find, and whoever finds the cache once it's republished as joint FTF's! No one loses out.

Re: Geosportz
OK, then a thought. Points + (Difficulty & Terrain) OR Points + (Type + Container) Whichever is the higher. You can go for high D/T caches (if you're adventurous) or you can go for high T/C caches (mysteries and larges) if you're more a brainiac. I think that may work out to benefit both and disadv...

Re: Geosportz
So what about still having a maximum target, but in the event of a tie, the team with the highest average per cache find would get the nod. In this sense, the strategy would be trying to maximise your points per cache, but obviously not go over the set target. It would mean trying to plot out all th...

Re: Cachers who refuses to sign the log book
If the logbook was missing, or full (and assuming you don't have a replacement log or piece of paper), would you claim the find. Yes...For me...if the log book is unsignable due to no fault of the finder, then they should be allowed to claim the find...eg. wet, missing, stuck in container (mostly d...

Re: Geosportz
No play it like last time, no point difference for GC or GCA. I like the challenge of trying to get as many points as possible by doing the high terrain caches or high difficutly caches. This led to great strategy play by all the players and doing caches far outside their area just to get the combi...

Re: What makes a good one?
If I had to write a short guide on good caches, then what ian and penny, and papa bear left have said sum it up very well. The only thing I would add to this is don't rush your cache. When you have an idea for a cache, sit on it for a few days...or weeks...and think of ways you can make it better. I...
