Re: Coles is on to geocaching.....

I didn't see a teapot like that for sale in Coles, must have been a FTF early bird special. :D

Re: R U OK - Depression & Geocaching.

Thanks and I say that very sincerely. I may take a while to pen a reply that isn't because I aren't reading your messages and appreciating your thoughts. I take a while because this is a very sensitive subject and written words can easily be misinterpreted, oh how I wish I had made more effort in En...

R U OK - Depression & Geocaching.

Hi all I have thought long and hard before starting this post but think perhaps by speaking out it might make a difference to someone and if only one person is helped then it will be worth it. Many of you have met Ian and I as we have travelled around Australia Geocaching, swapping Pathtags etc. Mos...

Re: How long is too long ??

This might sound long winded but when this happens to us and it does quite a bit as we are travelling around Oz at the moment I do the following. 1. Check out the person who left the traveller and see where and when they are logging caches. If they haven't logged on for a few days I put the travelle...

Re: N00b With an iPad and Some Questions

Regarding seeing the screen in bright sunlight - we have 2 ipads, my original Ipad 1 has the standard screen cover oon it and my Ipad 2 has a non-glare. I have noticed a distinct difference in my ability to see the screen properly between the two and would not go with a non-glare screen again as it ...

Re: N00b With an iPad and Some Questions

Thanks again for replies. So what % of caches are premium? I'm not looking at subscribing to GC yet but I'm curious how many more would be revealed. Also do the contents of premium caches tend to be dfferent in some ways compared to regular caches? We are currently geocaching our way around Oz for ...

Re: N00b With an iPad and Some Questions

:D Thanks for the reply Sue. See, this is where I get confused. Now we have GSAK back in the mix along with Geobucket. There seems to be a mix of apps available and as a simple sort of guy I'd like to keep all this minimal yet functional. In your opinion do I need both or only one of these? Basical...

Re: N00b With an iPad and Some Questions

I am no expert when it comes to the ins and outs of GPS but will add my 2 cents worth here if thats OK. I have an IPad 3g into which I have loaded the paid version of Geobucket. We are currently travelling around Oz an going into remote areas well away from any 3G signal, eg last week we were up on ...

Re: Forgotten to log caches.

OK let's see how good the memory in replying to your comments  The caches in question are most likely only the Brisbane through to Gympie ones, as past Gympie we had bought a dongle to replace the one that belonged to Ians' work. (he resigned and sent works laptop and dongle back there). The da...

Forgotten to log caches.

We have just parked up for the night at an overnight rest spot at Yandina in Queensland there is a cache right here. As soon as we pulled in Ian said we have already found this one and as it is slightly unique he described it then without GPS headed straight for it and found it. I have been sitting ...

Re: Your hiding style

Drive fast. Grab the co-ords on the smart phone as I'm holding the wheel with my knees. Fling the film canister out of the window. List a new cache while I'm screaming down the freeway home. I can throw these down at the rate of about 10 a minute giving 161m separation at an average speed of 100km/...

Re: Your hiding style

We generally choose a hide appropriate to the area. Ian likes to hide devious caches when he has time to build them, other times I will hide the largest cache boxes I can in areas that we consider we can show off areas that tourists wouldn't normally see. One thing I can say is we NEVER place a cach...

Re: BIG Little Geocaching Event

We too hope there are caravan parks available nearby that WILL allow pets as we always have our two boys travelling with us or we just don't go. :D Now bringing the kids, that's another thing - quite easy to leave him at home
