Re: Puzzle caches - solved but not found

Interesting the different ways we all manage this 'issue'

When we've solved a puzzle we put in corrected coordinates and then change the cache type to 'traditional' (since we only export traditionals and multis to the GPSr) - and lock the entry of course... Working for us so far.

Re: 917 Finds... In 24 hours. What the?!

I'd be lucky to be able sign a log that many times in that space of time. They probably just stamp it. It's even funnier than that - Apparently on these mega power trails it's pretty common to see team stickers just whacked on the outside of the cache container in the interest of saving time.... I ...

Re: group raids

Is that an honest question or are you just looking to re-open the argument since you've climbed it?.... It was just a question - thanks caughtatwork for the answer. Besides this everything I had to say is in my log - there is no need to discuss this any further: some people say the group raid was o...

M: Is this the right room for an argument?
A: I told you once.
M: No you haven't.
A: Yes I have.

Re: group raids

Can't people attend these events and derive the same enjoyment without having to get a smilie? I was there on Saturday and thought it was a really great occasion and I didn't sign the logbook. Really, it's those cachers that actually manage to overcome the obstacles that suffer from their achieveme...

Re: group raids

regarding the 'cheapening' of a cache - in the case you are speaking of, i would say 'no'. The reason that this cache drew such a massive number of people and turned into such an awesome event was due to and out of respect for its difficulty, not in spite of it. All day people spoke with awe about t...

Ever suffered from blind (GPS) faith?

Saw this in the paper today: GPS strands tourists in Queensland Personally I reckon they were going for 4x4 (03) but were too embarassed to explain :D But anyway - more curiously (as we've just rigged up a sat nav system in the car (out of an eeePC and nroute \:D/ ) - has anyone ever blindly followe...

Re: You know you're a Geocacher when............................

You leave for a business meeting an hour longer than necessary to do some other 'business' en route. When your briefcase is stuffed with GPSr, ipod, torch, pens, stickers and spare batteries... ...and then you turn up at the REAL meeting and take out your mobile, only to have a TB entangled with it ...

Re: When cache placers go AWOL

Thanks for that - And good to have your view Echo... I was probably going to see if it was 'worthy' of keeping (ie. notable, interesting, tricky) - But given those comments I might just leave it be....

Re: When cache placers go AWOL

A bit of a related question (which I didn't want to start a whole new thread on): There's a cache near home (GC1263J) which i'll probably be aiming to knock off in the next week or two. It's in pretty poor shape apparently. Wet, broken, possibly even missing it's lid (based on the find logs), but it...

Re: Power Trails: an (ammo) can of worms

I would be interested to see if people who are against the idea would actually place the caches on their ignore list or not. Would you walk the walk after talking the talk, or would the irresistible desire for some quick numbers become too strong? If I happened to be driving down the road I might d...

Re: Power Trails: an (ammo) can of worms

As always, each to their own I guess... Personally I can't see the point... Seems like a chore, stopping the bike/car every 161 metres down a long boring stretch of road to sign an identical log. But if the numbers are that important to you I can't see how it diminishes geocaching.... Apart from clu...

Re: endurance/geocaching events...

interesting set of ideas there! The rough idea I'm considering (well, which I cobbled together when I should've been doing work this arvo) would be an 80km or so (maybe) walk over 24 hours, along which would be placed temporary caches for the event, which may also serve as checkpoints and directiona...

endurance/geocaching events...

Hi all, A question for those of you who have been around this site and geocaching longer than me... Has there ever been an event organised which has an endurance focus? I'm aware of past events such as the Bathurst endurance event which were more focussed on 'how many caches can you find in 24 hours...
