Just in case someone is confused by my previous post in this thread... The "78" in "murf78" is no more. It turned out that Groundspeak will now allow username changes again, and as the original "murf" account was never used or validated, I was allowed to claim the name! :D Refer: http://forum.geocac...

Awesome! Thanks again C@W... It all sounds too easy  The username field is editable when I go to change my forum profile, but I havent tried saving it, so that may not be the case. Either way, i'll shout out if I manage to make the switch. Really appreciate the work all of you guys do here. I'...

Cool, Thanks C@W. I'm pretty sure I understand the differences between GC username, GCA username, GCA cacher name and GCA forum name... but just to clarify: I am currently: GC user: murf78 GCA user: murf78 GCA cacher: murf78 GCA forums: murf78 I have caches logged on both GC and GCA. If Groundspeak ...

Changing GC username, effects on existing logs on GCA?
After reading the "Whats in a name?" thread, I went to research if the new GC "Phoenix" project would allow changes of username. In doing so I stumbled across http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=8749&st=0&p=3032392entry3032392 which indicates that it is again possible to change yo...

Mine's kinda boring really... you can probably guess what my surname is
And the 78 is only because somebody decided to register "murf" first:
http://www.geocaching.com/profile/Default.aspx?u=murf
but never used the account (oh well...)

Enlighten Me!
OK, can someone please play salesman/devils advocate/whatever and tell me what I am missing... (Apologies up front if this gets a bit ramble-y) My trusty old GPSII+ is reaching the end of its useful life, and I have approval to replace it. I'm looking for another shiny new Garmin, and have been doin...

Before I dissapear to bed... I just re-read your post, and you may still find the database option a possibility... You did say "don't want to install a full content management system", but there are bound to be other options. The first one that springs to mind is a wiki... without having actually do...

Interesting... Without going to a database backend with dynamic pages, the direction you go will depend on the end-users knowledge and skills. It looks from your original post that they may not know any HTML, is that the case? Either way, what I am thinking is... depending on the permissions of the ...

I'd actually just go the direct method... make a backup copy somewhere else of the track file first (of course). Then, make another copy of the .plt file so you end up with 2 identical files. Work out the point (time stamp and/or coords) where you turned around. Open them both in notepad, find the p...
