Re: i have just purchased a garmin etrex h : cable, map
I have a Garmin eTrex Vista H. Vista has an electronic compass else no difference I understand. I can confirm that a standard USB cable with mini one end and normal the other works just fine as to connect, I pick up any one of 3 we have in the house. The bulky cylinder bit on the official cable isn'...

Central VIC cachers - Coliban channel is flowing
While at Grandad's - sorry, Keeper of Time's Park from the Past GCZTHC a few days ago I noticed that within the last week, the Malmsbury Reservoir has begun feeding the Coliban Channel for the first time for a few years =D> This means that tunnels and dissipators associated with Hondo222's Coliban C...

UTM on Hide a new cache page?
Good New Year to our GCA web site elves Something for the New Year list which is probably already as long as the roll of Sudoku toilet paper I gave A+ for Xmas. Jeza's post re metric on the GC site reminded me to make a specific request for the GA site. Having rattled my dags on hiding GA caches rec...

Re: Cycling Observations
Perhaps you ride in the vicinity of your local rubbish dump? On a 36km mainly forest mtb trip yesterday, I found more rubbish in our pre-start cache than I did on the trail. And some might say there was also more rubbish in the cache I placed en route. So if you are road cycling, my observation woul...

Reported visits to cache listing includes owner?
Was interested to note that within 30 minutes or so of publishing a new GA cache yesterday, there had been 10 visits. Wow! Today, having just published a further new GA cache, I noticed 7 visits recorded immediately I had published it. I am presuming therefore that each time I edit it and/or look at...

Re: Have you cached on Christmas Day?
A real Mtn Lioness wouldn't be stalking at 0130  Dusk is your happy hunting hour. For us, twas perfect for a morning walk to Blue Mountain nr Trentham VIC for TP1758, a cluster of 3 very interesting caches and a rocky wildflower bordered tarn. Sans mountain lioness fortunately. Did spot a few...

Re: Have you cached on Christmas Day?
Our very first cache was on Xmas Day last year, along with a geocoin. We have a tradition of starting Xmas Day with a walk (used to be a run :( ) before tucking into Xmas brekky (Kiwi spelling) which is a family tradition: Strawberried champagne (strawberries marinated overnight in brandy, orange ze...

Good one Mark I had zoomed in a fair way but not far enough. I'll remove the Trig as I was in 2 minds whether or not to include it.
Thanks, Kenny

East Gippsland Rail Trail route cache not on Google Map
Gidday I just created a public route for the East Gippsland Rail Trail and noticed a discrepancy between caches showing on Google Map vs those listed (both selected from Action menu at right of route info). The listed cache missing from Google Map is GCG6H5 Lookout Snowy! at Newmeralla. Is this a sp...

Re: Non-owner symbol on Google map
I was nearly going to respond that I didn't open that cache listing. But I saved myself from embarassment by remembering that I select my own or planned caches as a quick way of getting to a sought area to view on a Google map.
Thanks Cached.

Non-owner symbol on Google map
Just looking for caches near one of mine (Sylvan Waters GA1809) and noticed it is showing on Google Maps as yellow with an asterisk rather than blue with an O for Owner. Couldn't see any reason for this within the listing. Then I couldn't locate the symbol meanings so am asking is it correct as disp...

Re: GPX download format awry?
Curious. My MM is latest and changing the type to Traditional didn't make a difference.
Not important. When I have the time I'll do a comparison of the XML for GA2548 and the problem GA2278/2325 when I have time.
Thanks C@W, Kenny

GPX download format awry?
Good evening Just downloaded the GPX files for a couple of caches (GA2325 B&W Bolinda Creek and GA2278 B&W Camp IV) and MemoryMap objected to the import with 'The parameter is incorrect' message. (Don't we just love those conceptual level error messages?). Although I had very recently successfully i...
