Re: Report GCA Site issues here
Try logging out and then log back in. Sounds weird, but it's the same cookie. Tried that, but it's still not letting me do it. Went and changed my password, cleared cookies, tried a different browser, still no luck. Getting the same message from the main site, but can still access the forums just f...

Pokemon Go
Not strictly geocaching, but when I spied this preview video the other day (after informing my daughter who promptly wet herself with excitement :| ), it did certainly make me think of geocaching. OK, it's more like Ingress to be fair (and is in fact developed by the same people), but the 'augmented...

Supposed to work with polypropylene and polyethylene... Not sure how strong it would be though, but should 'stick'. Anyone tried it?

Re: Report GCA Site issues here
Help! I'm not sure if I'm doing something incorrect or praying to the wrong gods, but I can't seem to log into the GCA website since its dandy refresh. I can log into the forums fine, but every time I try to log in it says: Sorry, that username/password isn't on file OR your account has not been act...

Re: "Commercial" events?
It seems ironic that GCA was formed in an atmosphere of rebelling against the restrictions and commercial controls imposed by Groundspeak. Free and open caching was the catch cry. Now there seems to be all this concern that the Groundspeak rules are followed to the nth degree. In raising the issue ...

Re: "Commercial" events?
I think it's probably meant by gc.com to protect their commercial interests by not providing a vehicle for advertising by their competitors. This seems perfectly reasonable. It's the interpretation that sometimes gets a bit mystifying. A couple of years ago I had a vague reference to a nearby shoppi...

Re: "Commercial" events?
I had to remove from a cache listing that it was possible to get a coffee from the nearby shops, as I was told that was commercial. It wasn't just one cafe, but several, so I wasn't plugging a business, but still I couldn't mention this. I like to know where I can take a break when caching and get ...

Re: "Commercial" events?
Thanks LouiseAnn - that's kind of what I figured... I'm not hugely bothered. Not enough to make a fuss with an admin and cause a problem for those already going and the CO. It just had me confused as it seemed, at least in appearances, a touch commercial and I was wondering if I'd missed something r...

Re: "Commercial" events?
The cache listing is not commercial. The event is at the event organisers geocaching shop? That seems commercial and should not be permitted. If it's not at the shop then it doesn't seem commercial. As far as I know (I haven't visited the address personally) the event is at the same address as the ...

"Commercial" events?
Hi all, Just a query for those with a better knowledge of the rules and guidelines than I can summon. What are the rules in regards to events which just happen to take place at a business location? I've noticed a few events taking place over the last year or so at a geocaching-focused business (this...

Re: Caches in children's playgrounds
Ironically also, the one time I've been 'confronted' by concerned parents whilst caching was in a park with absolutely no playground whatsoever... It was just some random park with absolutely nothing in it (except a cache!) which just happened to be used by the local rugrats. I kept to myself as I s...

Re: Caches in children's playgrounds
NO MORE RULES! Stop with the making of the rules. First playground attributes, then in the description, then in the name. No sorry, your cache can't be published because it doesn't contain the right combination of letters and numbers to give those clueless enough to check the right information. Soo...

Re: Caches in children's playgrounds
In most instances, if you don't like playground caches just a wait a month or two and it'll disappear of its own accord! :D The vast majority don't tend to last, both because they're readily muggled, and more often than not the CO is a newbie who will most often lose interest in maintenance when sai...
