Re: Pokemon Go
Well, it's officially out - and glitchy as hell  Actually, for a 24 hr old game it's ok - Just a bit of freezing at random intervals and an overloaded server. Not sure I'll get into it though.... Bit of fun to walk around and find random Pokemon around (ended up having to take the kids/dog ou...

Re: So where/how do you draw the line re safety?
Here's a link that landed in my inbox today: USB camera for your (android) phone for $19.... Cheap way to trial one out in your caching kit.. Just ordered one myself actually! Well, mine arrived today... Word of warning: Check your phone can handle OTG USB before purchasing! I only just discovered ...

Re: CCCC: Cache Construction Centre of Competence
I realise this thread is basically about constructing more intricate/elaborate cache containers, but I can't think where else to post this... Today, thanks to a nearby pro geocacher, I discovered "tough paper" by nu: world. It is "made from stone, is water and oil resistant, tear resistant, great f...

Re: So where/how do you draw the line re safety?
So what kinds of gloves do you guys wear then? Gardening gloves or thick rubber gloves or disposable when it's just the yuk factor or what? To better the mirror idea, occasionally you'll see sales on simple inspection cameras. You mean like those on the flexible cables with the screen in your hand?...

Re: So where/how do you draw the line re safety?
I second the glove factor here... Even in 'natural' environments you have no idea what critters might be hiding down a hole.. Tongs can be good too - both for that purpose, and for reaching that cache that's just a little too far away. To better the mirror idea, occasionally you'll see sales on simp...

Caching and terror guidelines.
So in a read of the paper today there was an article about the new terrorism guidelines (OK, I was drawn to the article by the link title "Planter boxes, benches might save lives" thinking it might be some neato article about the benefits of quality landscape architecture :? ) Interesting reading, e...

Re: Is there a point to puzzle caches?
This is why I like placing (and doing) field puzzles, rather than the head-scratching code-breaking nut-busting mental caches... Sure, people can still pass on the final coords, but I think they tend to be more accessible - and the finders of them tend to appreciate the journey so much that they exp...

Re: 246 caches found in 24 hours by a team of 3
In spirit I definitely agree. It should be more than just clicking over a number and paying no attention to the location and the journey to get there... But as others continue to say, different things drive different cachers. While there are plenty of randomly located (or worse, poorly placed) cache...

Re: Melbourne Event 2015 (MEGA)
I didn't get to Casey Fields until late on Saturday because I had set myself the goal of at least 10 different types in the one day and I finished up having to drive just over 200km to do it. That didn't leave much time to do any more than discover many trackables. 8) I was wondering who might be u...

Re: Melbourne Event 2015 (MEGA)
Thought I'd check in to see how people were enjoying the Melbourne Mega. I know people are having a great time by seeing their comments on some of my caches, but surprised by the lack of comments here. Seems to me to have been an absolute success. I'm not hugely surprised by lack of comments here, ...

Re: CCCC: Cache Construction Centre of Competence
Thanks - there's a few good suggestions there that I'll follow up. My thinking behind this is that I've recently started work and have an office with a window/desk overlooking a public area - A perfect spot to potentially mark up some numbers in reflective material so that when someone points a torc...

Reflective yet invisible??
Does anyone know of a product that is reflective, but won't show up in the daytime?? I'm wanting to create some markings that would be invisible during the day, but show up under torchlight at night.... I know that may be asking for something that breaks the laws of physics however.... I'm not sure ...

Re: Complaints thread
Accidentally found a premium only cache today. 200ml sistema. Log only. No swaps. No pencil. Sitting under a rock at the base of a tree next to a road. What are they protecting by making it premium only? Boosting their ego? I have noticed that there is a correlation between those who hide PM only c...

Re: Complaints thread
Oh I legitimately get annoyed about how gc.com is "seen" as the only listing site. Why are some cachers so blind? *preaches to the converted* #-o Well, to be fair, Groundpeak have pluralized the word. So they are technically 'the' Geocaching site and 'the' Geocaching app. Would love to have the tim...
