Re: New Program - GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife)
I've just discovered that the new 1000 cache limit on Pocket Queries has a small problem. You need to download them manually. The automated email facility only works with PQs of up to 500. I had a system of PQs which copied all updated caches in specified placement date ranges covering all caches i...

Garmins get too hot to handle - Product Recall
For those with Nuvi's who have been keeping their hands warm over winter. Garmin Australia has issued a recall for some of its most popular GPS devices as they have the potential to overheat, despite the cold Australian winter. Garmin has identified a risk that the batteries in some of its devices m...

Re: KMZ files link
Whilst it would be a handy feature, I can see what a path to a Z cache would look like now. Follow the path for 2km, and then look up, up a bit further, and just to the left Just as well Google Earth is in 3D.

The other way to check your data locations is to use the Folder Finder tool through "Tools=>GSAK Folder Finder"

Re: A new numbers-challenge for you
hahaha nice project... only possible I suppose in Canberra or Adelaide where the puzzle cache density is so huge! Hmmm only finding Zytheran caches.... that could hurt :P I'm in that boat. Just about all of my closest to home puzzles that we have solved (most of the ones that we haven't are...

Re: In your honest opinion.
G'day, You will probably get a fair few different opinions about which one is best, and what the best way is to do something, so I'll just put up my experience. I've got a Oregon 300. It's perfect for paperless caching, as when used in conjunction with GSAK, it makes impromptu or planned caching eas...

Re: Australia's Largest Cache
Just the thread to beat my own drum. The Big Kahuna http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=5de7e994-752e-49aa-8dcc-f87b2ccce165&log=y is a used ammo container. It once contained four bombs or some sort. It is big but maybe not this big. Although it is big enough to be a dinning tabl...

Re: Longest without a find
I think that something must have gone bung in the feed again, as today's mail out shows that there are a pile of puzzle caches that have been archived, that are still actually fine.

At a guess (C@W would probably be able to see straight away) it had some funny (malformed) characters in what you pasted in, which caused the issue.

Re: Report GCA Site issues here
I just did a log for a locationless cache and when I looked at the page the log entry had truncated. GA1698 When I looked at where it cut off the rest of the log I noticed it was at a " quote. The rest of the log has gone. Now I know I can fix the log (typing it a second time round is never the sam...

The patches arrived today and are now available in the shop. http://geocaching.com.au/shop/index.php?route=product/product&path=39&product_id=62 To say they look terrific in real life would be an understatement. Go buy some :-) Sounds good to me. My order is in. Plus I grabbed a couple of PT's just...

Re: Puzzle caches - solved but not found
What we do, is when we have solved a cache, we put in corrected co-ords into GSAK, and then have a filter that does all unfound/available/puzzles solved, and then export that. It requires having 2 filters, and then joining them using 3 lines in a macro, but it works great. We can then quickly see wh...
