Re: Cachers who refuses to sign the log book

..... the one thing that is seriously not cool is claiming a find that you didn't make. I've even informed on people because I couldn't see the name of the last finder in the book. I became aware of a cache recently where this occurred (log book not signed). The online log claiming a find was delet...

Re: Minimalist Cache Logs -- Opinions Wanted

Reading me email this morning, someone has just gone through an area where I have a few caches on my watchlist and just logged "1" and the next "2", then "3" and so on. That's a bit poor I reckon. Makes "TFTC", or "Found" seem like War and Peace ! Check back in a few days - I had the same issue a w...

Re: 2012 Goals

I would like to release a trackable that survives longer than 3 hops and a few hundred km before vanishing from the face of the earth and which actually gets some photos attached to its log.

Oh..hang on...were these supposed to be achievable goals ? Oh..well..never mind me then....

Re: Exciting times.

Good to hear ! Hope it gets found soon and that you get some nice comments left in the logs. It's always good when people appreciate your caches, whether it's for the view you have shown them, the history lesson or point of interest, the puzzle you have made them solve or for for the cache camo itse...

Re: GCA in same area as GC?

The other thing to consider is that GCA allow "Virtual" cache types, whereas GC no longer do. This means that if you are trying to attract people from a different audience to a point of interest where there is already a GC cache, then consider the virtual option for the GCA. That way there aren't tw...

Re: What makes a good one?

Bad Caches: Nano Caches 200ml Sistemas I disagree, I have seen each of these done well. The important thing to remember is that everyone likes different things, don't just disregard a particular cache container simply because of its size. As PBL wrote, try to maximise your cache size for the area. ...

Stop watching a cache

Not sure if this is the right place, but here goes.... Is there a way to remove a cache from your watchlist ? There seems to be an "add" link and an "ignore" link. Before I "ignore", I thought I'd better check that is what I actually want to do. I don't want to block the caches in any way, I just wa...

Re: 2012 Goals

I have added a goal, which is to log a cache (or more) on Feb 29. GS are having a push to double the number of individual cachers logging a found cache on Feb 29 compared with the last one 4 years ago.

Re: Bulk downloading to a Dakota 20

Dredging up an old thread, but I took advantage of my Ray's VIP membership and the post-christmas 26.5% off, to add a Dakota 20 to the family. On the Mac, I simply downloaded the .GPX files with the caches of interest (one from GCA, the other from GC.com), plugged the Dakota into the Mac and when it...

Town kept alive by caching

Bushfire sent me this link to a Fox news story about a place kept alive by cachers. It doesn't look like the sort of place for haters of the power trail though ! :D

Re: Android phones for geocaching

I use a Desire. Seems to work OK, though I tend to use my Oregon when doing a 'proper' day of caching. GPS in the Desire seems ok, I've done a few tests averaging waypoints with it and my Oregon and get the same results. I still don't consider it my primary caching device though. The same for me, b...

Re: geocaching tools

I know the cache you're trying to find (or, I suspect I do) and you won't need the tools for this one and there's nothing dangerous involved. That said, "Bushfire's caching toolkit" is definitely useful to have on hand for caching in general. One thing Bushfire is missing though, is Aeorguard/Rid/Of...

Re: The longest GCA power trail in Australia (idea)

I like the explorers idea. Although like a lot of Australians, I know nothing of any of their trips (like I knew little about B&W until I got involved in the activity). Where did H&H go? Here is a quick overview http://www.heritageaustralia.com.au/pdfs/Heritage0307_Hume%20&%20Hovell.pdf Hmmm.. 4 of...
