Re: Web Hosting Costs?

If you're computer savvy and have a spare PC and a stable net connection, you could always host it yourself.... Just depends on the amount of traffic you expect - if it's low because it's just relatives and friends, Windows plus WAMP or a flavour of Linux and LAMP is your friend. Throw in DynDNS for...

Re: Android version?

Have used a HTC Desire, currently playing with a Motorola DEFY, but Geocaching is the best on a Samsung Galaxy Tab.

Can't wait to try caching on HoneyComb 3.0 on something like a Motorola XOOM or Samsung's new 10" Tab. Just have to wait...... 8-[

Re: HTC Desire

Thanks for the link. I have always been disappointed by the cameras performance (although the tap to auto zoom is a nice feature).

Re: iPhone Apps for geocaching

I've tried caching with an iphone on a number of occasions and have to say that the accuracy is absolute carp!! I've had accuracies ranging from 1200 metres down to 40 metres (but never better) Interesting. I've never had that poor accuracy at all when caching with the iPhone. On several comparativ...

Re: Where are we all from??? (introduce yourself) parts 1&2

Hi all, I'm Travis from Team Pirate Rock. My wife Heidi, 4 year old Alyssa (Pirate Rock herself) and baby Lorelei make up our group. We are based in Gawler in SA. I have always had and love gadgets, and after working at a store that sold Garmin for many years, decided in April 2010 to take a Colorad...

Re: Garmin Colorado 300

I've really enjoyed my unit, especially with the Australian TOPO maps. Makes navigating so mych easier. And the unit has taken a pounding too. Scratches, a big chuck out of the battery door, and dropped in a creek. My preferred GPS device (although I log from a iPhone). Luckily Garmin AUstralia have...

Re: What would you do. . .

I've seen this a couple of times on my one and only cache. It's the official iPhone Geocaching app, and depending on the version/user, it's a either a bug where it sends the default text regardless of what is entered in the notes, or it is the cacher not entering anything and submitting their log. I...

Re: Great geocaching torch

I bought 5 200 lumens CREE torchs from eBay to get the shipping down, and then sold the rest through eBay again (for a small profit :)

Super bright torch, and now that I think about it, it's been over a year without a battery change. \:D/

Re: Batteries

I used Energizer, Duracell and the like in rechargable batteries, but I get better performance and life out of the cheaper PowerTech batteries from Jaycar. I also use a PowerEx charger, and it has been fantastic. http://protog.com.au/maha-powerex-mhc9000-wizardone-aaaaa-battery-charger-analyzer-p-52...

+1

c:geo is the best app out there IMHO.

The developer has put alot of work into it, and I have not had a crash in months. You get a update almost every week.

Re: iPhone Apps for geocaching

I could not find a app that suited my needs better than the official geocaching app for $12.

However, if you ever end up on Andriod, c:geo is a better alternative.

They are locked to a MicroSD card, however a google search gives instructions on making copies. Useful for the nuvi 765 in the car and the Colorado.

Re: Newbie thread: Which Garmin handheld GPS to buy?

I love my Colorado 300C, but in this day and age, I think that a Dakota or Oregon with it's touch screen would better suit my needs. I also have the Outback & street mapping, so I really have a great feature set with my GPS. I have also used a HTC Desire and a iPhone 4. c:geo (Andriod's HTC Desire) ...

Re: It seems bizarre to me ...

Absolutely amazing - without wanting to start a new thread, perhaps we should be making more use of Premium Member Caches, especially those specifically designed to house moveables/trackables. :-k I would think that this would be the best choice for TB hotels - it's not just a log book that can go ...
