Re: Australia's next Mega Event launch.
My wild guess would be Eden, south coast of NSW. Close to the border of Victoria.

Re: Garmin Chirp
Pricing is still a bit steep. My (and others that I purchased for) Chirps arrived here today landed for $24.50 at the old US exchange rate around 96c. I would have thought JAGPS would be able to do them at the Garmin retail of $22 considering the exchange rate. Yep, generally that is Australian bus...

Re: Garmin Birdseye
I've tried overlaying a number of maps over the Birdseye maps and have had no problems. I am very happy with the maps on my Dakota albeit download times and Basecamp quirkiness are a major issues that Garmin will have to remedy IMO. My 16GB microcard is going to be used to its full potential I dare ...

Re: Garmin Birdseye
Yes - Agreed! There is virtually no manuals or help guides on this product. I am still holding out high hopes for it though. Have to admit that I am trying to avoid Garmin firmware upgrades for my Dakota as the one I did before Xmas killed my GPS to the point that they gave me a brand new replacemen...

Re: Garmin Birdseye
Hi all, I too decided to purchase this product to see what it was like. The easiest part of the process was paying Garmin the necessary money. I had a terrible and hair pulling time just to get Basecamp to allow BirdsEye to even start downloading maps. After trolling various forums I eventually foun...

Re: Observations from a couple of wanderers.
Sounds like you had a great time and congrats on the finds and thanks for the message.
I hope you did the Gordon River Cruise at Strahan. A cruise you would never forget - Or did you trade it with the train ride instead of the cruise?
Cheers!

Re: What didn't you like about the Oz Mega?
I believe that as long everything is constructive it is good to discuss such topics here. What is discussed does not only have to apply to any future Mega Event but to any event people are thinking of organising. You may find that many good suggestions come out of this topic and thus improving any s...

Will be setting up a GCA cache here in Canberra. So there is at least one more to be added to the tally.

Re: EPIRB/PLB
Hey there Jeremy, Have you considered an alternative 0 the personal locator beacon. To give you an idea about their functions see one example: http://www.e-worldshopping.com/Products_Detail.php?ProductID=1312 It is cheaper, has a few more functions and has an annual subscription service. Cheers! Rob.
