Re: TrigPointing

At the weekend I found a trig point on French Island (TP4477). It was somewhat of a trial getting to and it would be an FTF which would be nice, but I'm uncertain whether I should log the find (well actually delete the log) because although I found the large pyramidal wooden tower structure on top o...

Re: TrigPointing

The nearest one to us turned out to be inside the Victoria Police academy! The GZ appeared to be about 50m inside the fence and not visible. I thought about scaling the fence and taking a look, but decided that would probably be a bad idea :D

Archived as per the instructions.

Hi mcmillian mob - That sounds interesting. What Garmin software are you using on the E71?

The N95 is 240x320 or 320x240.

Re: Smart Phone/Device Survey

Symbian for me too. Quite a few votes considering it's not on the list? Phone is N95-8GB.

If it's just a web site being considered, maybe peoples screen resolution/size is more relevant than the device type?
Anyway, it's a good idea.

Re: 2009 Cyber Flash Mob Topic “Positive Caching Experience”

Our positive caching experience is all about finding new places we haven't been before. This is especially true if it close to home, but previously totally unknown to us. This has happened numerous times in little urban forests, odd culdesacs by the yarra and reserves where if you, (well, we anyway)...

Nope, the GPS works, and it still would not connect.... hmmm I have no idea how to activate port splitting software, but if anyone is able to supply any further info, I would be willing to give it a crack.... Cheers As Damo mentioned, we have this working just fine and we certainly don't have anyy ...

I have no trouble with Geocache Navigator on my N95 with Telstra Internet. When I start the app, it asks me for the access point I want to use. I can select Telstra Internet or a WAN and both work fine. Do you not get this choice? Also, I assume your app was linked to your GC account? Is there a sen...

If you want to encourage people to hide GCA, try hiding a few yourself. I know if I came out your way I'd find a GCA over a GC cache anytime. I'm hoping to get FTF on this one http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga1432 even if I delay another week :-) Well, maybe we will. We had our eye on that cache to...

Thanks Damo.

I guess I was hoping for some automated method. I can see this would be pretty tricky, and perhaps not worth the coding effort.

Finding GCA Only Caches

Having just found our first GCA cache (about time I guess) we are keen to find a few more although there don't seem to be too many in Melbourne's East where we are.

I find it a bit annoying where the cache is listed on GC as well. Is there a way to list CGA caches that are not also listed on GC?

No info from Garmin to report yet, but I was prompted to check if there was a firmware upgrade by a somewhat similar thread. It will save the inevitable "are you on the latest release" question anyway. I have upgraded from S/W Ver 3.50 to 3.70. Version 3.60 contains the grammatically dubious, but pe...

Thanks March Brown, but I'm not sure I follow the logic of not using the compass. Perhaps you can explain more fully? As far as I can see, the mag compass is a significant asset to the 60 CSx (well - when it's working reliably anyway) and allows the arrow to point to the waypoint/cache etc even when...

Thanks everyone. I not sure which batteries I had in place yesterday when it seems especially troublesome, but I use only NiMH and they vary between 2000 and 2500 mAh. I haven't considered a correlation between battery size or charge before, but there certainly would be an effect on voltage as the b...

Garmin 60CSx requires constant compass recalibration

Iv'e been pretty happy with my 60CSx, but the magnetic compass has always been a weak point. Apart from some reservations abouts its accuracy, the main problem has been the need to re-calibrate the compass. This is usually not because it appears inaccurate, but because the compass stops working cons...
