Trig history - Ku-ring-gai Chase and West Head

I'm wondering if anyone can help with with some background information about the old trigs in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. I can see them on the Historical Parish Maps from 1895 but I was looking for more information. Who built them, when, why and how? Perhaps someone has researched the surveyor...

Re: Trickiest spots to fill in the D/T grid

Hi Yurt, D1/T3.5: GCH7J5, GC14E1F, D4.5/T1: GC3RWAM, GC3BEAF [edit: GC3RWAM is lame and doesn't deserve the D/T rating - give it a miss. Oh no!! The Cache Rant has been temporarily disabled! Just after I nominated it for Geocaching NSW "Cache Of The Month"] D4.5/T4: GC19NHK, GC2C57 Found using Geosp...

Re: GPS

There is the Groundspeak Geocaching Intro app ( https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/geocaching-intro/id329541503?mt=8 ). You could also try Geo Bucket ( https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/geo-bucket/id426675790?mt=8 ). If you decide you like geocaching then I recommend you purchase Geosphere ( https://itun...

Re: Oddball 'communities'

Bell ringers (campanologists). I come from a family of bell ringers (I haven't done it for years myself) and I know there is a Melbourne bell ringer who posts in the forums sometimes (he mentioned a recent trip to Adelaide to ring at the cathedral there). Just don't tell my relatives that they are "...

Re: Geo Apps??

I have an iphone and use geosphere. It has a number of advantages over Groundspeak's app: 1. Better filtering of caches 2. Correct date on uploaded logs. 3. Handles caches from other sites (eg: GCA) and uploads logs to GCA. 4. Handles corrected co-ordinates. Like Toriaz said, there are a bunch of ot...

Re: Australian caches

Hi Choff5,

Do you mean a Magellan Explorist GC? Do you have a PC? If the answers are "yes" then I can help.

Thanks for the quick reply c@w. I had been resending the same log to test if it was working which explains why it worked once and then not again.

Re: Yet another request

I'm trying to upload my field notes from Geoshpere on the iphone. I'm only just setting it up and it's not working properly. I have the "Upload GCA Field Notes" bookmark set up in GeoShpere with the java script but what seems to be happening is that there is a radio box in My/Imports that says "Igno...

Kind of reminds me of a quote from "Macbeth":

Returning were as tedious as go o'er."
