Re: Garmin Asus A50 pre paid
sssoooo....how good is the gps in this thing. Is it better than one I'd find in a iPhone for example? How does it compare to other map navigation systems? Sorry but this just sounds too good to be true...especially for someone just starting out. I'm suffering from suspicion :) It's definitely bette...

Re: Garmin Asus A50 pre paid
Went into dick Smith today and asked the guy "If Harvey Norman are selling these for $641 on a $49 plan how come this one is only $199?". He blinked at me. In the end he 'thought' it was 'probably' because with the pre-paid the gps system would count as downloads and you would have to pay for it wh...

Re: Garmin Asus A50 pre paid
actually, additional question - does it allow you to see all of the downloaded PQ caches on the garmin maps (as opposed to the google ones) as it navigates along? Or do you have to go 'online' to achieve that? And will it sync with gsak?

Re: Garmin Asus A50 pre paid

But then I can kind of do everything it does already - albeit with a cobbled together melange of old GPSr, iPod and netbook... and I'm trying to be good and not waste m...

Re: Garmin Chirp
I noticed something on my laptop which I never noticed before, which was a Garmin ANT application of some form (I've never used it - it just sits on my toolbar after installing some Garmin software I guess) - Would this communicate with a chirp? Nice to know I could use it as a backup if I ever want...

Re: A little perspective on the state of caches...
Caching is always fun, regardless?- nope. I don’t need cache coordinates to make me get out of the house and make a difference to my day! OK - It's late and I should really be in bed, but this line had me feeling all self-conscious... It's a fair point and it had me squirming thinking "Why can't I ...

Re: A little perspective on the state of caches...
Despite our name :D , I certainly don't think it's all about positive thinking and pretending everything's hunky dory... But I also reckon that things aren't as bad as we might tell ourselves sometimes. I do agree certainly with constructive, welcoming, positive feedback. I also certainly agree with...

Re: Garmin Chirp
new Garmin FAQ about the chirp (I found in a tweet) YES. A CHIRP TWEET! http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/chirp Interesting that this one alludes to a potential iphone app to pick up chirp signals - I wondered how long that would take (although it seems to require the use of some specific dongle -...

A little perspective on the state of caches...
Some idle thoughts for a Friday morning, from an equally idle person. There’s been a fair bit of moaning for a period of time about the falling quality of caches. And to be honest, I’ve contributed to that – both in the forums and in logs. I’ve noticed myself getting a little disappointed with cach...

Just saw this today:

Does this mean the Asus-Garmin phones?? If so, bugger.... I was thinking of one of those when I finally got around to getting a smartphone

Re: For the pedants amongst us ...
- and then came across this equally wonderful cache: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GC1K7DE That cache is placed by a local teacher who has some really good hides. I'm not sure why that cache would cause any concern. Oh, you misunderstand me... I'm not concerned by that one......

Ooh.... huge congrats to the tiger clan... =D> When we knew you wouldn't be making the yarrawonga gig we did wonder on the drive up how you were doing. Hijacked caches
Doing a bit of sleuthing for some funny business going on with a friends caches (http://bit.ly/dybFAw) - They're both on Raymond Island in Victoria and in the last month or so it appears that the containers have been replaced - and replaced with reasonably engineered pipe caches which also have uniq...
