Not wishing to big note myself, but 30 years of CB Radio/Ham/Scanner operation does qualify my following remarks. I just have to laugh at the marketing rubbish these UHF radio re sellers spout, here are some examples for that UNIDEN Ad. UHF CB Transceiver Features "40 UHF Channels " Actually, usable...

I was a little dissappointed to see it didn't come to my Cinema. After seeing the trailer a dozen times I had made up my mind it would be a great movie. I guess I'll just have to get up off my butt now and utilise my sorely under used "Gold Pass" to see it elsewhere. BTW Did anyone catch "Amazing Ra...

Many thanks Riblit. :) We'll try to get to the 500 mark a little quicker. We had a lot of fun doing Rain Guage. I often use the data from McMahon's Lookout on the B.O.M. website to see how the rainfall is going in the area, but had never visited it. Great location Great views. It's also very good fo...

I bought into GPS mapping quite some time back. As I stated in another topic recently the prices charged for mapping software are quite unrealistic for what you get. Then there is the updating thing. You would think that after paying such hefty prices for a map CD , you would get automatic free upda...

"Caysh" seems right in this country because if it was supposed to be pronounced "Cash" it would be spelt C A S H.

The English lanuguage is the problem here.

For instance Mache is pronounced Mashay. So maybe Cache should be pronounced Cashay.

hounddog, based on your idea, we've created a new query to list nearby standard caches. here's an example: standard caches around frog hollow Woo Hoo!! Hey guys you have really excelled yourselves there. The idea is great. Very spiffy looking too. Perhaps it's just what the doctor ordered under the...

Hi everyone sorry about the following very wordy opinion. But hey this is a discussion group after all, so lets discuss. When I first discovered Geocaching (now nearly 4 years ago) the best thing about the hobby was it's simplicity. I already had a GPS gathering dust on the shelf so I grabbed the th...

Thanks for putting us back on topic Rats/Toolkit. As I said earlier, it's not about which might be a bigger target, it's about which place has the most potential to 'blowout' into a situation if people arer seen to be acting suspiciously. Here's my list of places that should be absolutely no go zone...

Following on from the discussion I feel it might be relevant to look at what locations we really do see , not so much as targets, but more importantly as potentialy confronting for Geocachers Ecoteam metnioned the Sydney Opera House, I agree 100% there. I have also received a little feedback through...

Terrorist Target

I noticed a recent approval for a cache on the Sydney Harbour Bridge. I have been wanting to locate my own cache on the bridge but did not go ahead with it because of the rule (quoted below). """Caches near or under public structures deemed potential or possible targets for terrorist attacks. These ...

The boo boo may be educational

Did anyone else receive that cache update from GC.com with a whole lot of archived caches?. Hmmm..... obviously someone pushed the wrong button. Might be educational for the newbies however. Visit some of the caches on the list and you will learn some of the history that has made Geocaching what it ...

You may find it interesting to know that PTT conversation is not as distracting to use as a normal full duplex conversation. Since mobile phone technology was introduced many tests have been conducted and comparisons made on the safety of car comms and their effect on the concentration of a driver. ...

I left my GPS behind once, but quickly realised it and returned. Of course my Jumper loss at "Warawee" is legendary. Never did get it back. At "Nest" I lost my GPS in the swamp and spent over an hour finding it. The tide was rolling in by then but retreived it just in a nick of time. Maybe we should...
