Chuck the model in, and we can see what can be done <p> Canon DC100 Ah-ha. As I mentioned before, there are problems with direct-to-DVD cameras. Mini-DV (tape) cameras are far superior in that all video is time stamped so when you load it into your PC it knows how to find scenes and you can get a s...

Mr Router wrote:you can buy video editing software with an anolog to usb adapter for about $90, the computer fair has em all the time.
Don't do that, you loose heaps of quality with the composite conversion and then subsequent rescanning.

Re: OT: editing DVD footage

Nothing to do with caching but I am sure there are people in the caching community that can help me with this..... :D <p> If you have a camcorder that records direct to mini dvd, is there a way of being able to edit the footage eg add voiceover etc. The camera does not have usb or any other connect...

My ISP (iinet) explicitely state that their web-hosting has no bandwidth limits. I'm happy to put that pdf on there for you in the short term until you sort something out! Thanks Ian, but no need now, got it sorted. After a search around I decided to get the HostMonster account. No hassles with it,...

Hey Dave, It seems to be these days... The last lot I had reccomended to me were: http://www.servage.net/ Based in Germany but billed in Australia (priced in AUD as well, so no FX fluctuations). There are more around at a similar level. I'm sure you'll find something that suits your needs. Cheers, ...

are you going to use much CPU? sometimes there are cpu usage restrictions which they don't tell you about! No idea about CPU usage! My sites don't really do much computational wise I suppose, just regular basic HTML web pages (majority of the bandwidth), and the usual (low bandwidth) phpBB forum, w...

Re: Cooking a GPSr

Does anyone know if its possible to cook a GPSr. I used to have a Magellan XL4000, which died for no apparent reason. Then, when getting into caching, I bought a Garmin 60, brand new. This I use in a windscreen Ram mount. I go to grab a few FTF's today, and find the Garmin "wont turn on", blank, no...

A little searching turn up this web host: http://www.hostmonster.com/hosting-features.htm 200GB space with 2000GB/month for US$4.95/month Makes my current host look pathetic at 250MB space and 5GB/month for US$6/month Is this representative of what is currently available for that price these days?, ...

OT: Need low cost website host for large bandwidth

Off topic, but I know some people here know about this sort of stuff... The bandwidth requirements on my website(s) has just exploded from around 3-4GB/month to over 33GB in one week *gulp* The limit on my plan is 5GB/month, so I'm kinda in a bit of trouble. I'm looking for a new host for one of my ...

It would be interesting to know the percentage of cache finds vs GPS type. I would not be surprised if basic eTrex beat all other types combined. Only because it's cheap and there are more of them out there! Not necessarily true. The eTrex originally cornered the market for it's small form factor a...

However, there's been a helluvalot of caches found by following the arrow on the most basic of yellow eTrexes! ...not to mention caching contests. We have won more than one caching contest with nothing but a basic Yellow eTrex and a magnetic compass. It would be interesting to know the percentage o...

Re: Looking to buy my first GPS...help!

Hello all, I'm new to this forum, but not new to geocaching as such. I have a friend who used to take me out 'treasure hunting' a few years ago when i lived in Switzerland. Now moved to Sydney and interested in investing my own money in a GPS unit. From what I can tell the Garmin 60CSx is the ultim...

Re: Buying a GPS

Thanks Guys, I sent CartoGraphics an email after I saw their name in another post, so hopefully he comes back with some good prices. By the way how long does it take the administrator to authorise your user in here, I registered last Thursday and I want to log our finds but cant get in yet. The alt...

Re: Buying a GPS

I am looking at buying a GPS (It is a bit of a challenge finding caches with no GPS, although we have found 2) and I am wondering if anyone has any views on the Etrex Vista as it appears to be what I want with an altimeter, and the ability for mapping. I also saw the Etrex Vista cx and wondered how...
