Re: Report GCA Site issues here

Good, thank you guys. Even though I am not attending the events, I am still keeping a bit of an eye on them.

Cheers

Re: Report GCA Site issues here

Seems there might be an issue with todays- 13/10/12- daily email, not showing 3 upcoming events in Rockhampton, on the weekend of 16-17-18 November. The 3 events have shown up on past daily emails, but not todays. I did check to make sure the events had not been cancelled, but they are still listed.

Re: You know you're a Geocacher when............................

You drive 1000km in 2 days to log a DNF on an unfound cache, then 2 weeks later, travel 1000km in the other direction, to log another DNF on another unfound cache.

Ya get that.

Re: Roof Racks??????

A basic roof top tent isnt very heavy. We have one, and probably weighs less than 60kg. There should not be an issue at all mounting one to the top of a trailer. Remember trailers are, usually, rated to carry 750kg if unbraked, and up from there if the trailer is braked. Rereading your original post...

Re: Visiting from Denmark

If you want a cache that may well be even further away from home than the one you mentioned, Stewarts Handle, then have a look at http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=6db1fd1b-82b8-42c2-ad22-ea0ea72c7e45 Probably the southernmost cache in Australia. Take the 1/2 day round trip flig...

Re: Roof Racks??????

I dont think it would be an issue. Look at all the tradie trailers going around with racks up top, and loads up there. Try contacting Cached on these forums. If I remember correctly from Oz Mega Wagga Wagga, she was camped with someone with a setup like that, Roof top camper mounted up topside on an...

Re: LED Throwies

Some of the ones I gave away at both Oz Megas were from Zazz, but in reality, they are expensive buying from them. If your only after 10 or 20, its OK to grab them from Zazz, but when your after 1000, as I was for Albury/Wodonga, it adds up, and in reality you cant buy that many from them. I did con...

Re: Scouting Cachers

Hoojar No, sorry I dont have that information. Apparently there are supposed to be toilets and showers located beside the access road- but they are supposed to be Billabongs. The Google Earth image I pointed out, showing the square horse jump, they will apparently be located directly south of the ju...

Re: Scouting Cachers

Well, in our case- Billabong sub camp- the Sub camp leader is also our regional leader, and lives in town. So we have seen the surveyors maps for Billabong sub camp, which, although a bit difficult to fathom, it does show some permenant and currently installed infrastructure- of all things sewerage ...

Re: Scouting Cachers

Hoojar Then you will be across the road from Mrs Bundy. She is working in Welfare at Billabong, which is the other side of the rear main access track from Highlands. Billabong leaders will be eating at Highlands resturant on a daily basis. Unfortunately, I wont be attending the Jamboree itself, but ...

Re: Can 2 geocachers each log the same find together?

Try looking for caches during a Mega Event. 2 caches spring to mind at Albury Wodonga, one on Tin Can Hill, where about 20 of us all went for one together, The race to find the cache was brutal- not really. I was lucky enough to lay hands on it first out of that group, in the glovebox of the wrecked...

Re: Forgotten to log caches.

We are the same, its pen and paper for the found info, for a more detailed found log that evening, or the next day. No phone or GPS logging for me. More time consuming typing on an itty bitty screen with ogre type fingers.

Re: Forgotten to log caches.

Not alone at forgetting to log caches. The year before Oz Mega Wagga Wagga, we returned from down south, via the Newell Hwy, and cached along the way. When Wagga Wagga came around, we had our attendance earmarked as a milestone cache- it may have been 1000. After Wagga Wagga, we again returned north...
