Re: The Moving Cache Race for 2010/2011

OK ACT gnomish folk...:gnome :gnomette Is there anyone with plans for a gnome picnic in the ACT? If not, I'm happy to host one - would midday on Sun 28th suit? (unfortunately Sat is out for me). I thought it would be nice to get a group photo before the gnomes are all released, so hopefully everyone...

Re: The Moving Cache Race for 2010/2011

OK.. I have the gnome :gnome (which was originally going to be a GC Traditional) but I have a question & don't want to have to troll through 23 pages of posts to see if it has been answered yet... If the gnome is about the size of a regular cache, but the actual cache container inside the gnome is o...

Cache Log Verbosity...

Following on from a recent thread started by ian-and-penny, I was intrigued by a comment by norkmeister As someone who has hit the 4,000 character limit in the past ... I never knew there was a limit on cache logs (although I suppose it is only to be expected) & it got me wondering exactly how verbo...

Re: Postcrossing !

I blame Mundoo for getting me sucked into postcrossing! I discovered postcrossing via her profile & had a bunch of old first day cover maxi cards that were sitting around gathering dust, so decided to put them to good purpose. The nice thing is that I get a postcard back in return. A couple of inter...

Re: Cool New Macro for GSAK! Achievement Badges!

Cool badges - it worked a treat for me (after crashing mid way through the first time it ran just fine the second time around) - it was a good prompt for me to get GSAK up to date. The only small problem was that I had to add the FTF field to GSAK & manually tick all my FTFs to ensure I got credit f...

Re: DNF on muggled caches

I agree with most of the comments posted to date & certainly log my share of DNFs & see no shame in that (although it is always a bit embarrassing when it is an "easy" hide that is subsequently found by a newby cacher!!). However, looking at the stats it appears that there are lots in the cac...

Re: Is it okay log log a 'virtual' find for a nano cache?

I like PBL's idea of not placing the nano in the first place!! [-o< When I started caching in the ACT there were only 2 nanos - that had novelty value due to their unusual nature. It would be interesting to know the number of nanos that exist now... I have seen a push to get a nano category for list...

Re: The 10 Year Anniversary Official Pathtags Rewards List

It's amazing how a couple of "free" pathtags can "offset" the cost of a couple of 2li Sistemas and fancy logbooks etc, not to mention the FTF pathtags I also purchased to giveaway!!  :?  8-[ :-" But then again - isn't it worth it!! As an aside, sometimes I'm a little disapp...

Re: Geocaching in Bali

Caching in Bali is a very different experience to anything in Australia. It is very difficult to place a cache in a public area because the locals are so curious & these caches tend to go walkabout very quickly. Therefore caches tend to get placed on private property with local cache "guardians". In...

Re: 2009 Cyber Flash Mob Topic “Positive Caching Experience”

Oh dear - I almost missed the event - only 2 mins to go by my computer clock. I'm not sure if this is so positive, but I do enjoy (I think) that adrenaline rush when heading off to find a new cache - I have a touch of that now - having almost missed the event. 1 min to close now!

That would be one very clever April Fools Day joke! Maybe there's a geocacher in ACMA with an odd sense of humour (or very disgruntled)...

Please allow me to add my condolences to your family too - what a devastating thing to happen to a family, but it sounds like Graham was farewelled in fine fashion. I never had the pleasure of meeting Graham, but I did come into contact with him via a couple of his caches very early in my caching ca...

I was in Sydney attending a course & I had been telling fellow course attendees all about geocaching earlier in the day, so it was amazing to see it mentioned on All Saints. I think the writers must be American though  (at least there was a happy ending!)

I'll be there with bells on! Heck - given I was planning to head back down to Tassie when they were originally planning a Mega Event in Jan (but that is now scaled down to a regular event of some sort); a trip down the road to Wagga will be a piece of cake. There are heaps of caches in the vicinity ...
