Sorry, GCA caches don't add to your GC find count & won't be counted towards the competition.
But they will be fun to do in their own right .
And thanks for the end date info, we still have a few weekends left to do that bike ride then .

Re: Great Scouts Australia Geocaching Competition
My eldest daughter (The Imp) is in the competition. For her it mainly means that she's actually logging her finds these days, although I've just realised she hasn't done her logs from the last weekend of the holidays yet. Must look up the end date, I've promised her I'll take her out for a bike ride...

Re: Irritating cache ideas....
Could be risky - in some spots in Sydney they get removed regularly. You could have the bad luck to place your cache the day before a council worker comes along & chops all of the locks off.

Re: GC finds not appearing in GCA
I usually do the same as pjmpjm, and import the gpx file for each of my finds after I finish logging for the day. As an experiment, I just uploaded the zip file for my last query. This resulted in 2 caches & 130 logs being imported. Would it help the feeds if I did this each time I run a query? I on...

Re: Geo Apps??
Do you just mean geocaching apps, or other apps that can be useful for caching? Apart from the geocaching app (I use the groundspeak app for the iPhone, but I've heard a few people say the android version isn't great & that cgeo is better), I have apps for scanning QR codes & microsoft tags, the Whe...

Re: Australian Power Trails
I would call my 22 puzzled hearts caches a series, not a power trail. On the map they look like they are all close together, but after you solve the puzzles, you find they are notmtrax wrote:Lets call less than 20 a "series" and 20 or more a power trail...

Re: Armchair discoveries
There were a couple of lists of coins for discovery at one of the Sydney events earlier in the year, a big pile of them so you could just pick up the list & not bother to even look at the coins. If that's a common practise at events, there's probably sites where the lists from various events get upl...

Re: Scouting Cachers
My daughter has just registered, in the NSW Cubs section. She is very excited, and wants me to take her on the Windsor to Rouse Hill bike track/powertrail sometime soon. I guess she can work on her cyclist badge at the same time .Bronnie_1990 wrote:6 days before the competition starts.

Re: Ideas for Activities at a Winter Event
Perhaps something like the fun event we attended a few weeks ago - http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_de ... b53c4bf10e
Full details are on the page. The game part took us a couple of hours, with stops for other caches on the way.

Re: Entertaining Logs
The more I think about it, the more funny logs I remember. Anyway, I was going to link to WebGuy's log, then reread the page & realised bikerbuddy & Alfyboy's logs are worth reading as well. The 2 hobbits in alfyboys log are my daughters, there's a photo of them attached to my log. It's No Edge of G...
