Given all the enthusiam being shown, all things going well we will make the drive down, probably making a holiday of it. There will be two adults camping.

We had a similar problem to Wombles - registered on GCA first only to find the name taken on the GC site by a person who was not actively caching. We registered on GC as Just a Trifle (the current name of our trimaran).

Thanks for the info MM and Thomo - although the snake was certainly not "inoffensive" when it was having its picture taken in the afternoon as it was quite agressive on my tentative approach - it reminded me of a brown snake.

We have found one snake recently, although fortunately not in the stump where the cache was located. More worrying though is the one which seems to have taken a liking to our back patio! Does anyone know what type of snake it is?

Do you mean caching team birthday or actual birthdays?

It was more interesting when there were different phrases for different find numbers. Since these were changed to "XXX or more caches found", we have never bothered updating our stars from "100 or more tracks walked". For us it is about the journey rather than the numbers.

If it is allowed, would it be worth having a sticky for the event website at http://megaevent.tasgeocaching.com ? This way, anyone new to the forum will be made aware of the mega event and if interested, will be able to make plans to attend.

We would be interested in attending. Have always wanted to watch the start of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race and then head to Hobart to watch the fleet come in. Combining that with a geocaching event in Tasmania in early January would be perfect.
