Re: How to upload GSA data to iPhone (geosphere)

This can be a "more than one way to skin a cat" type question, but in the end, it all comes back to using the "Data" tab in Geosphere. The best idea is to set up some bookmarks, which will make it easier to load things on a regular basis. I'm not sure if you know how to add a bookmark, if not, its f...

Re: iPhone TomTom application

I logged a support case earlier this year (see below), and the official line was "No"... However it is possible on Jailbroken iPhones, and this remains one of the last few reasons why I still choose to Jailbreak. Hopefully in the future they will implement either an online download functionality or ...

Re: Newll Highway - locusts?

Just got back from Bris -> Leeton last night, so I can vouch that Coonabarabran to Ardlethan is fine, you would be lucky to hit a locust. We took the Oxley/New England for the northern part of the trip, so can't help for there.

Safe travels!
Cheers,
Murf.

Re: Open Caching

An interesting point, which probably isn't relevant to many... It seems that even though the registration form states that your username must be at least 5 characters, a 4 character username is accepted! So if you are trying to get in early and get your same name, don't let it put you off, try your ...

Re: fieldnotes for GCA website

Sorry about that... I spent quite a while trying to hack the Geosphere "Upload Field Notes" bookmark to be able to automatically upload to GCA. Unfortunately there seems to be some compiled in magic going on that submits the file to the GC upload form, so I will probably need to contact the Geospher...

Re: fieldnotes for GCA website

I'm happy to beta test with Geosphere for the iPhone. I might need some time to work out the javascript to automate the upload bookmark, but after that it should be fine. (I'm more than happy to document and share my config on the wiki once it's complete) I haven't worked out an easy way to get a ho...

Re: iPhone Apps for geocaching

I'm a Geosphere user, and I highly recommend it, but i'll admit to not having much experience with the Groundspeak app, so I can't really do a fair comparison. A big bonus of Geosphere though, it supports GCA (geocaching.com.au) caches.... That may not be important to you, but it is worth considerin...

Re: fieldnotes for GCA website

I also use fieldnotes, in another similar but different way... I use the Geosphere iPhone app for all my paperless caching, and it supports the fieldnotes feature. While i'm out and about I mark my caches with field notes (Found, Not Found, Note, Needs Maint) but I usually only bother typing enough ...

Re: ALERT FOR FACEBOOK USERS

I wouldn't panic too much... If you read down towards the end of this page, the Facebook developers are deprecating the "Boxes" app, which appears to be causing this broken app to appear: http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Tabbed_Profile I'm guessing someone saw it and wondered how many p...

Re: iphone, geosphere and gpx pocket query query

That certainly doesn't sound right. I can't really picture what would be happening there... It would depend on how you are seeing the 600 caches. Is this when you download them to Geosphere? It is important to note that caches are not automatically deleted from groups in Geosphere, you have to go an...

Re: iphone, geosphere and gpx pocket query query

OK, I think/hope I understand what you are trying to achieve here. I happen to be a GSAK user as well, but I've just run through what you are trying to do, and hopefully I can shed some light... Forgive me if at any stage it seems like I am spelling out the obvious, I am in no way trying to be patro...

What's your Radius?

After a drive yesterday to find 3 caches and clean out my "50km radius from home" circle... It got me wondering, what sort of radius to other cachers keep clear around their home coordinates? According to GSAK, my next nearest "Unfound + Not archived + Not Temp Unavailable + Not Benchmark" (I'm excl...

Re: GPX on iPhone

Geosphere is my preferred option, and is mentioned in this thread as well: http://forum.geocaching.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=12535 Works offline, takes GCA caches, and also has the "field notes upload" which I found makes logging easier. I still do a batch log when I get home, rather than the onli...

Re: IN NEED OF HELP GARMIN GPSMAP60CS

For bulk removal of waypoints, I usually manage things by using the different icons (or Symbols) to group waypoints... my usual use for this is just reloading geocaches for whichever area I am about to visit. I can use the delete all of a particular symbol to remove geocaches and load the new set wi...
