Re: Event stacking

I always thought the whole idea of the geocaching community is about "you do it your way, I'll do it mine." No one is forcing anyone to go to events, and at the end of the day it's not hurting anybody. "Live and let live". Why is it that when someone on a forum speaks out about a pet peeve that thi...

Re: What should be a short trip....hours later

Same. I did 19 caches between Canberra and Sydney for a 6 hour trip. My usual trick is to set the satnav in the car to my final destination and then use the Garmin to cache. Then when the ETA on the satnav gets to the time I'd like to arrive by I stop caching and start driving.

And by "finding" it is meant that logging it as found twice on the web site. There is another type of log called Write Note, which allows you to drop the bug.

Re: upsetting tupperware sales people

BUT...............Tupperware will survive the sun for over a decade, whereas sistema won't last a year! (Decor lasts close to 10 yrs) I know because I have had caches out in the open in an alpine environment 1800m+ elevation in Namadgi NP. The caches had cache creep and ended up being quite exposed...

Re: "Throwdown" or "angel cache"?

I have noticed the following situation happening a number of times and wondered what the attitude of other geocachers is to it. An “experienced” geocacher goes to try to find a cache which has a number of DNF s on it. They decide the cache really has gone and place a new cache at GZ and log a find....

Re: "Throwdown" or "angel cache"?

Personally if it was my cache I would delete the log and stuff their streak. If it were my cache, I would say thanks for doing the maintenance run. (And was this the only cache they did in the streak? ) For replacing a "decent size" cache with a mint tin? Really? You think this is doing anyone a fa...

Re: "Throwdown" or "angel cache"?

The critical words here are "Streak day 124 # 1088"... In other words: "I couldn't find the cache but I wasn't going to let that destroy my consecutive days run, so I just put my own out instead." Pretty lame. If you're going to be proud of your streak run and publicise it to everyone, at le...

Re: Australian Power Trails

Not a power trail as such as some are quite challenging and difficult to find but one I can highly recommend (if you have the means) http://coord.info/GC3CBTA Interesting. All terrain 5 and I am guessing from that (but the cache page doesn't explicitly say it) that they are all to be done via boat?...

Re: Find unloved caches in own finds?

Because I am not very good at GSAK macros I approached this by using SQL and PowerShell, which I am more familiar with. I have posted a write-up and the code I used in the GCA wiki. This should work with GC and GCA caches. You do require a Windows machine with powershell and a GSAK DB with all your ...

Re: Two million caches

I just noticed a cacher has posted a "Needs Archived" log on Overwatch. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LUID=879f5fa8-6b81-4a60-bd21-9cc55123fcee Not the kindest log to place! Though I agree with those who have compared the 1500+ notes to spam. Not to mention all the TBs/geocoins that have ...

Re: Clearly 'Not Chosen'

I have recently hidden a cache and I would prefer not to reveal the size. Am I allowed to 'not choose' a size? I am told that this is a default and not an option to choose. I find this hard to believe as worldwide there are caches based on finding traditional caches with no chosen size. These cache...

This just in. I was pretty surprised to see this logged without the others in the series. Say thanks to the lightening.
