I don't own any trackables but in my opinion if I did, it would be my sole perogotive where the TBs travels started. So if I wanted to drop it in a "home" cache before packing it off to Europe, then I would.

I have no problem 'discovering' a TB/coin and leaving it in situ, I think that's why that log type was created wasn't it? I'm glad they did too, the last 2 I physically grabbed remained in my possession for over 5 weeks each, so this new log type is great for me as I ease back on geocahing to pursue...
