Re: New phones to have 30cm GPS accuracy in 2018

How will it be when phones have better accuracy than a dedicated GPS? I'm not sure but I think we're there already. In the consumer environment: The only thing left is battery life. For the rest phones do everything better. Edwin Or a signal. I've seen caches where the CO advises there is no mobile...

Re: Augmented Reality Geocaches

Read more at the Geocaching Australia wiki: http://wiki.geocaching.com.au/wiki/Augmented_Reality From the Wiki: > An Augmented Reality geocache should have a final location with a physical container and a logbook and codeword. Don't do like what I did: The codeword should get revealed when the phys...

Re: What's new on Geocaching Australia

From http://wiki.geocaching.com.au/wiki/Tour ... _a_tour.3F:

https://geocaching.com.au/my/tour/new still gives a "this page doesn't exist".

Is there an date scheduled for the availability for this?

Geocube - iOS app with native GCA support - version 2.2

Available in an Apple App Store near you! Version 2.2 has been released. The biggest thing is the speed for the cleanup afterwards, it could take up to 9 seconds for a larger database. KML files exported from Google Earth are now done better. And when disabling the GNSSr, it will put a marker at the...

GPS protocol: The next week number rollover next year

From https://ics-cert.us-cert.gov/sites/default/files/documents/Memorandum_on_GPS_2019.pdf: In the GPS protocol, the week number field is a ten bit value. So every 1024 weeks it will return to zero. Week 0 is 5 January 1980. And 21 August 1999. And will be 6 April 2019. So don't be surprised if your...

Re: Google plus code

So just a variation of what3words (which I have already seen used in a mystery) but with less resolution (as standard). But of course google want to control everything :? Euhm... Close but no fish: What3words is a proprietary database which you need to query if you want to do translations. Plus cod...

Re: Google plus code

Not sure if the 14x14m resolution is good enough for us to implement That 14x14m is the limitation of the "two character behind the +" notation. If you want 3x3m you just add another character to it: X43F+75 vs X43F+753. You have the same issue with the degrees decimal minutes notation if you limit...
