Re: External HD as Backup
Hi Facing et another data loss, I am facing up to having to get a second HD to use as a backup for my laptop (only need to backup one drive, the other is automated via work). Have seen a Seagate 200GB drive on eBay at http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Portable-Seagate-3-5-200GB-HDD-Enclosure-NEW_W0QQitemZ1400...

Congratulations to Hawmorfords for 101 caches in a day. Times no changee. Same thing happened when we broke the record at a whopping 33 caches in a day way back in the prehistoric times of 2004. (Still the only Aussie 2004 hit still on the graph :D (page 1)). Caught the same in 2005 at 56 caches. G...

Re: Solar Flares Could Seriously Disrupt GPS Receivers
G'day This was posted on the secondary forums and thought it might be of interest. I assume that the article is factually correct but I am not a scientist so I leave it open for comment. Details at http://www.physorg.com/news78540515.html Regards Andrew Yes, sunspot activity is supposedly going to ...

Re: Caching Topics A to Z # 8 Hobby
From GeoWiki Is geocaching a sport or a hobby? thatÂ’s all it sayÂ’s I think we can do better than that, I mean we may never agree on an answer butÂ… lets hear your thoughts If you compete against other players (finds, FTF, etc) then it's a "sport". If you just do it for the fun of it, it'...

Cache Congratulations...
Ok, now is it just me or does there seem to be a dozen congratulatory messages a day for people passing milestones? 100 finds - fair enough 1000 finds - fair enough But 200, 400, 900 etc? Where will it end? Prime numbers? Yes I'm just grumpy and jelous because, well, we hardly cache anymore! E...

I'll take your word for it EcoDave :D http://members.iinet.net.au/~gins/File0046.jpg now with this one option (A) & (D) I'm not so sure of, it may work as its effectively making a shunt? but i can imagine zener diodes to handle that sort of currant consumption would be rather expensive. (C) now wha...

If you want a lightweight headlamp then for my money you cannot beat the Princeton Tec EOS. 1W Luxeon with 3 modes, 3xAAA's, impact resitant polymer casing, fully current regulated (plus it doesn't just "die" when regulation ends) and fully waterproof (I use it while canyoning). Can be had on eBay f...

now using Ohm's law you shouldn't see something with a higher currant value than its voltage value. yet we always do in the real world, how does this work? Ohms law will always hold true (for DC current at least, but lets not go there). V=I*R, I=V/R, and R=V/I will always work. The circuit presente...

Its more likely that the base of a transistor is attached to that bit of wire and its been left off so as not to confuse the motor mechanics taking the test. Well it didn't work  I'll be heading out to Dicksmith this weekend to get some new electronics gear and start playing around with it aga...

Where is the i! Web site?
Ok, I know I've been out of the game for while, but where is the i! website?
It used to be here:
http://ideology.geocaching.com.au
I wanted to show someone the Get Smart winners page but it's now gone

i thought that they are saying the voltage supply is constantly changing between 11v & 15v and the zener diode starts conducting at 10v in other words weather its 10v or 15v being applied to the zener than it can flow through and with the resister in series yes it limits current flow but there is n...

An intersting show and a very convincing arguement about what actually killed the couple More than just a convincing argument, it's clearly case closed. I can't believe it took them this amount of time to figure it out, it seems so obvious. I guess it just goes to show how you can get stuck in a mi...
