Re: Daily cache update - same caches keep appearing

Those symbols in the cache name are a PITA. They stuff up the search function in c:geo as well.
No reason to have them in my opinion.

Not a big enough issue for GCA to worry about I think. I was just bemused at how often the same caches kept turning up in the daily email.

Daily cache update - same caches keep appearing

I've been noticing this for about a year and I thought there might be comments about this but haven't seen them anywhere. In the daily email there are usually a number of "changed caches" at the bottom. Almost every day GC (not GCA) caches that have symbols at the start of the cache name seem to app...

Geocacher finds something other than a cache (USA)

Only in America you'd think (or a war zone?)

Geocacher finds homemade bombs at Everett park

It's usually the geocache that gets suspected as the explosive device. I'd hate to find something like this. Usually the worst thing you find is bombs left by dogs.

Re: Is there a point to puzzle caches?

Solving the puzzle is the thing - finding the cache is then just the icing on the cake. Sometimes I leave solved puzzles for ages before looking for them. If I hadn't solved the puzzle (or at least helped in a group to some extent) I wouldn't quite feel right finding the cache. I do have a seemingl...

Cache found longest distance from coords

Had the joy of finding a cache some 180 metres off the listed coords today. Only found it from the cache description. I know of a few people finding caches up to a couple of hundred metres off before but I wonder what's the best? Someone has probably twigged that a digit is incorrect so they've work...

Re: 246 caches found in 24 hours by a team of 3

I'd be happy if people just wouldn't hide caches behind people's houses or, even worse, in front of their houses, unless they are the CO and it's noted in the description. I've finally started using the 'ignore' function for such caches. Not worth having the police called on me, or anyone. Even play...

Re: GeGnome ][ Electric Boogaloo

Richary I see how your poor gnome has been sitting at Denistone since day one! I must try and get down there. I've moved a few locally but am struggling this season with work so I've been guilty of transporting gnomes around in the car for days without placing them. Thankfully they're currently all ...

Re: Needs Archiving log

I've never quite come to grips with the grammar used to describe the log types. Needs Archived ..... Shouldn't this really be Needs Archiving? Funny Americans. It's almost as though they KNOW it's wrong but are too stubborn to admit it and change it to something grammatically correct. In what unive...

Re: National Engineering Landmarks / Historic Engineering Marks

Note I've edited the two locationless caches so each marker can be logged more than once by different people. Originally each marker could only be logged the one time.

Re: Trig in NZ

I published one on the shores of Lake Taupo which had a handy plaque with information about what a trig is. I do have a photo somewhere.

Re: Trig in NZ

I've published a few I've found in NZ. No one ever logs them again though so it doesn't feel like it's worthwhile. The Kiwis might have their own site for trig logging? I don't know.

There are quite a few on roadsides - not even in a high position so they are a bit different to ours.

Re: GeGnome ][ Electric Boogaloo

The gnomes were the high water mark for the movable races I think. If pjmpjm sees this post he should relate an funny anecdote from a GeGnome event back then concerning an interested member of the public.

Re: National Engineering Landmarks / Historic Engineering Marks

I published locationless caches for both of these some time ago: National: http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga2720 Historic: http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga3049 You can check the logs on these caches to see which are extant. I even own a reworked GCA cache (adopted from Riblit) which includes a Hist...
