Re: FTF acknowledgements in listings

I am still a paper cacher, and what bugs me is I can't see any way to remove lengthy descriptions and meaningless photos that are embedded in the descriptions, when I do a printout.

Is there a way to remove them? Or am I doomed to pages of (to me) useless field notes?

Re: FTF acknowledgements in listings

If a new cache is close by I will attempt a FTF, then again every cache I find is a FTF for me.
I'm not fussed one way or the other as to whether the CO acknowledges the FTFer or not, I don't with my hides.

Re: Underwater Cache - Any Ideas?

I had an underwater cache in a local lake, it was a stainless steel thermos flask, painted the same colour as the bottom slime. It used to leak a little, but the log was in a film canister, which surprisingly kept it dry, swaps were kept to plastic items. It was attached to some fishing line and tie...

Re: Archived because of danger (or not)

I think we should all rate a cache the minute we arrive on site, (I know I do). I for one don't go by the CO's rating most of the time. I well remember attempting a 5/5 in the Blue Mountains (Drop Dead Gorgeous). You were supposed to abseil to GZ, but some recent finders had found a way around the d...

Cache radius

The GC forum site has a thread on how many active caches there are from you in a ten mile (16km) radius. I tried the idea for myself in Western Sydney, and came up with 148, of which 46 were mine! I tried the same centred on Parramatta with a 50 km radius, and came up with about 1,500, I really thou...

Re: Controversy - Who's responsible?

In regards to inaccurate coords, if I find a cache well off its listed ones, I will always log something along the lines: 'I found these co-ordinates to be better for me today -- --.---/--- --.---. As a CO I am always happy to change my co-ordinates, if finders make a note in their logs that my orig...

Re: Controversy - Who's responsible?

Maybe we should all tread a little bit more lightly, I was with Satanas666 at a Sydney cache a few days ago , and he set off a fox trap, right next to the cache.....no harm done to him, and one more fox on the run...

Re: group raids

So long as you stick to the guidelines, how you want to play the game is up to you. What is ethical to you may not be ethical to someone else, but hey, thats life. Is asking a CO for clues ethical? Following someone else to GZ, and watching where they find it? Phoning a previous finder for clues? In...

Re: WA cache - come in sucker

The Eastern Come in Sucker looks like being every bit as hard as the WA one.
We had a go at it yesterday with no luck, and whilst there, two other teams showed up, and so far there have been 9 DNFs and no finds!
We will be back soon, I hope.

Re: Is anyone still here???

No support from the family for a trip to the Mega, I was going to do the NSW NS14 (sailing) championships at Gosford, but after 14 straight state regattas I was burnt out, so it will be some local caching tomorrow, and a day trip to the NS14s for me on Sunday.

Cacher dies in USA

A cacher has fallen down a cliff and died in Washington state USA, while out caching with his wife.
The GC forum site has more details.
I have had a few 'boy that was close moments', out caching. Sad to think that this hobby has taken a life.

Re: This is meant to be FUN! post only FUN comments, PLEASE!

We were friends with a young vet once, and she told us of the day the head vet and her were desexing some cats and dogs in the surgery. He had a bad habit of leaving bits and pieces of animals all over the place. So one day she pulled him up with the comment, "Dr Smith, could you please keep your te...

Re: what time do you going caching

I try to cache during school hours, when my two lovelies are at school, usually twice a week.
I also cache on most Sundays, family commitments allowing.
