Re: Geotalk podcast Episode 69 ... and more

Thanks Darren and RadioNut50 for another great Geotalk podcast, a good mix of information and stories. It was good to hear a high number of contributors on different topics, means I might have to get my act together and add my bit in. I think it would be good to highlight more "how-to" and "did-you-...

Seems some apps are REAL fussy about their GPX schemas
If anyone has any issues try loading a new GPX file and see how you go.
Working well, 2 v1.0.1 queries loading into Geosphere. Well done

Re: How many hides is too many?

A rather timely thread as I archived an unpopular 4 point multi this week. I seems anything more than 2 points is of no interest to the current generation of paperless numbers chasers. I will probably replace a couple of the waypoints with traditionals or short multis. Please don't, I think the goo...

This is not an area I usually cache, but now I'll have to make an effort :)

Re: New Compatable GPX Format - Testers required

Hi CraigRat, I tried this out with Geocaching with Geosphere 2.4.2 on iPhone4 and unfortunately the app crashes as soon as it tries to process the GPX file. I tried loading it into an existing Group or a new Group. I have a few macro's setup to load GCA queries into the app, setting it back to 1.0 w...

Re: Suggestion for Moveable Caches

But what if they found it before you got there and logged in after you'd been there. There is no real time tracking of caches, so the time between finding and logging means you're in the dark so to speak. This comes up every couple of months and (trust me) there is no answer. Agreed, you just have ...

Re: The all new National Parks 'Creature Cache'

I like teh idea of the "Creature Cache", not because of the technology (as I think it is basically a virtual with extra demands), but because of the special nature to mark it appropriately. A sign that you have done these well enough would be when National Parks pay you to set them up! I think the t...

Re: Locale updates

Tonight we have implemented a new locale creation process using the Google Maps API to return the locale name based on the lat and lon. I have done extensive testing in Australia and overseas and the locales all seem to work from what I have been able to see. Awesome work, I have had a few GCA repo...

Re: Open Caching

If there is a model for a good non-GC site, GCA is it! They could have saved a lot of effort and employed our great developers and got a site that works :) If there is a model for the best geocaching site, GCA is it (never mind GC). =D> \:D/  I'll pay that ... (except maybe for the iPhone app :)

Re: Open Caching

SO you act as a directory, not as a separate spot to log a cache not listed on your site. Even WE don't do that  (We REALLY dislike dual listing of caches but appear to be one of the only independant sites that discourage it) The whole thing is a bit of a train wreck right now. Garmin still ha...

Yep, the site works pretty good on the iPhone browser .. however a version of the pages designed for mobile browsers would be nice :)
