Re: Report GCA Site issues here

Is it possible for my Canada, England and Belgium finds to be counted in http://geocaching.com.au/cacher/statist ... gAus/finds ? The caches are: GC1958W Peter Pan (Brussels) GC188J7 Peter Pan (London) GC18GZC Peter Pan (Liverpool) GC1988Q Peter Pan (St. John's) GC18DGA Peter Pan: Toronto I should ...

Re: Report GCA Site issues here

For the last couple of years I've always seen a discrepancy between my "finds" as shown at http://geocaching.com.au/cacher/statistics/WanderingAus/finds (currently showing 4602) and the total of finds reported by the graphics at http://img.geocaching.com/stats/img.aspx?txt=View+my+profile&uid=fc5207...

Re: Chase the Cache (Big Brothers Big Sisters) for 2012

That sounds like a great opportunity to spread the word. Unfortunately there is no way I could be in Melbourne the day before the WanderingMrs birthday.

I'm very interested in the prospect for Perth, if it comes off I'll definitely be in it.

Re: The longest GCA power trail in Australia (idea)

Verse 5 doesn't seem very representative of Western Australia, and some places are so remote they will get ignored for most of the next decade. The only Jindalee in WA is a suburb just north of Quinns Rocks, although I believe the Jindalee Over The Horizon Radar system was developed in WA. Leeuwin i...

Re: The longest GCA power trail in Australia (idea)

The more GCA caches that are placed, the greater the likelihood of people becoming interested enough to find them. Chicken and egg. No caches, no interest. No interest, no caches. Just wait until the other huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge series in NT gets going. You will have more GCA caches to find than you can...

Re: The longest GCA power trail in Australia (idea)

After leaving Darwin I contemplated placing a few IBEM caches on my way, and thankfully I thought better of it. Yesterday I found more evidence of why we'd be wasting our time. I hunted down GA1616 Cosmos Bilby by DelicaDriver which hadn't been found since 15 November 2010, then I hunted down GCZYV9...

Re: The longest GCA power trail in Australia (idea)

There are some areas of Australia seriously in need of caches. I just spent an hour finding ALL of the active caches in the city of Mount Isa (that's a total of four), including one brand new cache which I got FTF for, then spent 3 hours finding the other three caches between 10 and 50 Km from Mount...

Re: Minimalist Cache Logs -- Opinions Wanted

Here is the one I wrote.... Hi <iPhone Cacher Name>! Thanks for finding my cache <hide-I-spent- a- good-bit-of-effort-on-to-create-your-experience> the other day I just sent my first Zalgariath style message to a cacher of 5 days experience and 6 finds, the first three were blank, then 4 words, 4 w...

Here is the one I wrote.... the parts in the <> obviously need edit/removal depending on the situation but otherwise anyone can tweek it for their own use. NB: This probably WONT come across well if you have already deleted their log   and probably works best on newer cachers. If you ...

Re: The longest GCA power trail in Australia (idea)

Well they could be every two hours. That is what the Stop Revive Survive people say. Now that is a more sensible suggestion for the remote areas! Im liking the "Back Roads Around Australia" Idea. I think about 50km-100km is a good distance. It (by Aussie Standards) will still be a trail, sensibly b...

Re: Minimalist Cache Logs -- Opinions Wanted

You can't yet. CraigRat is writing some code to allow you to "hide it", then the logger can amend the log and "resubmit" it. In the meantime, which cache and which log? Re: Minimalist Cache Logs -- Opinions Wanted

However on GCA caches, you will have to power to delete logs you don't like. There will be pros and cons to that. However there should be no problem putting a "quality" metric on a log, otherwise an owner can delete it. That's what I thought, but I just went to one of my locationless caches to dele...

Re: Minimalist Cache Logs -- Opinions Wanted

I put the following at the bottom of each cache page. And ruthlessly police it. When logging your find on line, your feedback will be extremely useful - so please add something about your Geocaching experience in your log, even just the condition of the container would help. Logs that are blank, or ...

Re: The longest GCA power trail in Australia (idea)

ooh, I like the name 'stop, revive, cache' - and that would definitely make a long power trail, as it could be anywhere and everywhere in Aus! TeamGeoPlesk placed 17 SRR (Stop, Rest and Revive) caches along the Stuart Highway in the Northern Territory, including 6 physical caches. I added 6 more, i...
