Re: Iphone cachers
Well as you can see rinsemesocks, some of the "old-timers" have well and truly embraced smartphones as a caching tool. When I first started caching I used a Magellan. I tried the pocket query uploading to GPS and it was so slow (remember 9 pin serial ports?) and took too much faffing around for me a...

Re: Google Earth Mobile update
Nice one! Just tried it and no data came up but it was still loading and all available is probably quite a lot of data. Will try it with a smaller query. No obvious way to save in the app but my mobile browser lets you save a URL shortcut on the 'desktop' so it's just one click to open the URL in br...

Works for me too. Just scuff up the plastic where the glue is fixing with some coarse sandpaper first and clean and dry it.PacketStorm4 wrote:I've used liquid nails in the past which seems to have done a pretty good job on it.

Re: A step up from a mirror on a stick.
Handy for termite inspections I would think, also other applications like looking for blockages in pipes I guess. By the sound of it there isn't much that hasn't been used at Bifrost. Ground penetrating radar springs to mind. Divining sticks and a spiritual medium are probably next on the list........

Re: Premium Member only caches
iPhone cachers have paid groundspeak ("supporting the game") to have immediate access to cache details anywhere they travel without the hassle of pocket queries>GSAK>GPSr. Why all the vitriol towards them?

Re: Minimalist Cache Logs -- Opinions Wanted
Well this thread has taken an ironic turn! We have the first 6 pages encouraging people to delete logs that are too short and don't mention finding the cache, didn't describe their experience blah blah blah with some justifying deleting these as being their duty as CO. Someone's logs get deleted bec...

Re: Premium Member only caches
I am aware of some examples of caches made PM to "protect" them yet being trashed regardless as well as have seen plenty of new players who become premium members straight away and quickly lose interest. Any argument I have read in favour of them seems to be people who are paying wanting to "reward"...

Re: Can I please change my username to match with my GC one?
Also should I re-visit the caches I've already been to, and physically sign my new username in there? (not such a hard feat as I've only found 14GC and 1GCA so far) I'm just aware that the physical log will say something different to what the online logs will say. Just not sure what the 'done' thin...

Re: Geocacher banned on unfair terms (IMO anyway)
I was never asked in advance by Groundspeak whether I wanted the co-ordinates to my caches given freely to anyone downloading an app onto their phone(No membership required). This included Premium members caches. Which app is this belken? The groundspeak app needs you to be logged-in to use and pre...

Re: Munzees!
They realised that the iPad 2 only has a fixed focus camera as well, so they're changing the app to load on devices with fixed focus cameras. Interesting. I was wondering why the iPad 2 takes rather poor quality still images the other day and had a read online about it. Essentially it doesn't have ...

I have a feeling that in future it will be described as half a foot high and 4ft deep. The destructive power of frustrated geocachers shouldn't be underestimated.Bundyrumandcoke wrote:. In town there is a long low stone wall, about 500 metres long, but only about 1 ft high, and 2 ft deep.

Geocache finds are geocaches only, challenges are challenges only, They ARE combined in the number you see about yourself. But not in the number others see about you. Well actually geocache find numbers are geocaches found AND events attended. This didn't used to be the case and events weren't coun...
