Re: How many people still visit the forums
Caching has revved up an awful lot over the last couple of years. How far is too far? Far enough that the council confiscates caches in trees for safety reasons? Back to that critical mass discussion that I had with Bryan a few years ago. When I started 9 years ago it was all a bit cloak and dagger...

Re: How many people still visit the forums
Wow! Some great feedback, I seem to have got a few people thinking! I think the thing that I have grown to appreciate the most was the GCA forums mantra that even if things got heated it was very rare to see a post deleted. It seems that these days if someone down't like a discussion on a FB group t...

How many people still visit the forums
With the ever increasing number of Facebook Groups (shudder) how many people still come and look at these forums each day, week, month?
What do you think we can do to entice people back to forums?

How on earth did you manage that? I've had similar numbers but the prefix changed in the analogue to digital change many moons ago.biggles1024 wrote:that is despite having the same number since August, 1988.

Re: Creating a plaque, with cache inside for GC3E
It's a bit like my Dad's favourite axe. He'd had it since he was a young man and, although it had had five new heads and twenty new handles, it was still his favourite. The cache is long, long gone. Allowing it to remain as a virtual was a sop to nostalgia, but trying to claim that a completely new...

Re: Map co-ordinates
I must say I haven't used them before. I'd be interested to know what people are using these coordinates for? Apart from creating dummy coords for a cache I can't see where I would use them, especially daily. On trips out in to the bush, particularly behind Lithgow, where there is a lot of fire tra...

Re: Speaking of Angels... Conflicted.
I was thinking about this this morning and first first thought was "If you can officially take over the listing it would be worth it. You could change the position so it wouldn't get muggled." But the I thought: What are you actually saving here? The original cache and log book are gone. I'm assumi...

Re: Streaking...
I recently made it to 98 days and thought that was a big effort. I can't imagine what 366 days is like!
Mine only stopped because I came home from a fire after a 16 hour day and decided that I wasn't going back out again...

Re: Power Trails... Watch your kids!!!!
It was a very similar incident that caused one of the original Nevada powertrails to be archived by Groundspeak at the request for the state highway authority. When we recently did a lot of the SA powertrails this same section of road had us concerned about this kind of incident or a truck running u...

Re: Reading the new(ish) Earthcache guidelines
It looks like the permission you are seeking via GC.com is not required as they (DECCW) say in the policy you don't need it. I guess if you haven't already been talking to a reviewer, they would be the place to go. Yep, to me if the land owner has specifically stated in their policy that permission...

Re: Event stacking
There is no need for event stacking really. gc.com rules state that people are not required to sign the event log. So if you want to 'bump your numbers', just search for events and log a smilie. "An event cache can be logged online if the cacher has attended the event. Event cache owners can reques...
