Re: CCCC: Cache Construction Centre of Competence

It may not be relevant to your specific ideas but Roymerc near has a series called Bring Your Own Battery near Denmark WA - you need to provide your own AA. Most people have one or two in their pockets so I don't think it would be difficult for them to provide their own power for some sitations. Ac...

Re: unlisted trig stations

Tried to create a new Trig Point site but the GCA performance is so poor I gave up - will try another day.

Re: unlisted trig stations

Is there a list for Victoria?
Visited one this week which doesn't seem to be listed on GCA.

Re: Sistema and glue

I find double sided tape is good for sticking magnets on the inside. The magnetic attraction "keeps the pressure on" and the tape only needs to hold the magnet in place when the sistema is lifted off the ferrous surface, which is not asking much.

Anybody in touch with Firesafe?

I have several pathtag trade offers open and have sent an email to firesafe but so far have had no response?
Is anybody in contact with him?

Thanks.

Re: Swaggies are going to be removed from Geocaching Australia

My first thought when I read this topic heading was that The Swaggies had somehow upset the applecart and were being banished. I guess any swaggies that survive and turn up can be turned into GC.com trackables if they want to be kept in circulation.. Sending any trackable out these days seems to mai...

Re: eTrex not talking to Windows

The driver might need to be configured to set the adapter to the serial port number which the software is talking to.
I had to do this to get my solar inverter connected to the interrogating software on my laptop.

Well worth getting a paid membership.
The stats and other resources here are extremely useful and relevant if you're a serious cacher.

Re: The LGA Challenge

After I spent ages making myself a map of this on QGIS, I had it pointed out to me that there is a tool to do this on Project-GC. Here is a link: http://project-gc.com/Tools/MapCounties?profile_name=LouiseAnn&country=Australia®ion=Victoria&submit=Filter A paid membership is required to access th...

Re: New Program - GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife)

It would be a bit naughty but this is a classic opportunity for a little screen scraper utility. It could read a set of parameters covering the common search fields, then work down a list of date ranges to generate the PQs.

Re: New Program - GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife)

Yes, it's a pity that none of these methods of getting the appropriate date ranges can actually automate the process of generating the PQ. I've been doing this for about 5 years, and it's amazing how archived caches reduce the efficiency of your PQs over time. It's a big job going through and broade...
