Re: Cache Log Verbosity...
Just had a look at our stats: Average of 59 words per log Longest log of 540 words on Traditional Île Française Numéro 2 by geofreak Shortest log of 8 words on Traditional Number 1 Red by LIVERPOOLRED so we are 1 word/log off being able to log hookline's cache. Our 59 average is over 1014 finds, so ...

Re: Boo-Boo Correction
Logs, no. They go out at 5 minute intervals at GCA based on the create time of the log not the edit time. No idea about the forum. How about you subscribe, tell us, we'll post stuff and then edit it and you tell us :-) And in case you already did, I just edited my post. Twice. Sorry - been off doin...

Boo-Boo Correction
Here's something I've often wondered about. When I make a boo-boo on a forum post, realise it a split second after I press submit and within matter of a few seconds, select edit, fix it up and re-submit (like I just did a few minutes ago), does everyone getting notifications on the thread get two em...

They do actually, I've never used it before. Seems to work a treat. Even takes it off the map.CraigRat wrote: .....(unless GC now have an ignore feature... I don't actually log in there much nowadays other than to log)

I'm sure you're right. I did in fact do that earlier.blossom* wrote:It looks to me as if the owner is a fairly newcommer and probably doesn't quite understand the way caches get on to GCA. Why not send them a message and give them a bit of info just in case they didn't realise

Re: Dual Cache Listing on GCA and GC.
New one of these dual listings popped up today: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GC2CQXW I'd just found it yesterday - Wondered for a second whether to log it again just to get it off my radar, but hit the ignore list again. Yes, a dilemma for us too. I don't want to log it, sin...

Re: Ideas for Scout Geocaching activity
How did it go? Actually, we had to postpone since the night was wet and Wattle park was very slippery. We could perhaps have persisted. Some people I know may have thought it would be character building for the kids, but I thought we'd have kids falling over left right and center in the dark and we...

Thanks SamCarter - Lots of great ideas there. We do have some 2-ways, but I'm not sure how many. Thanks.

Re: Ideas for Scout Geocaching activity
Thanks to both pjamesk & mastamak - lots of good advice there.
I'll certainly try and make sure they share the use of the GPS.

Ideas for Scout Geocaching activity
Seems I've been elected to help organise a geocaching activity for our geokids scout group. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who may have done something like this. ie what works, what doesn't etc. We are talking about an activity that should take no more than 1.5 hours, conducted at night in...

Are they ok for actually writing on, with a possibly less than perfect pen or pencil?Echo wrote:Just be aware too that some of the rite in the rain papers are laser printing only and some are ink jet only.

Re: Beat speeding fines with GPS
Yes, the range is fairly high isn't it. No doubt to cater for all those effects Geodes mentioned and still indicate at or above the actual speed. With so many cars getting integrated GPSr's these days, it should be possible to calibrate the speedo off the GPS. You would still need the speedo mechani...

Re: Beat speeding fines with GPS
Well the ADR reg should ensure that the speedo reads no more than 0.1 kmh under so you don't get caught for speeding and no more than 4kmh over. 10% over would seem to be outside the current limits.

Re: Beat speeding fines with GPS
Incidentally, I don't think the gear should make any difference to the speedo, the take-off is from the tail-shaft or equivalent, not the motor. tronador - I think they were replying to my comment. I agree, and was quite surprised when I noticed it, but I can only report what I see on the speedo vs...
