Re: Stashnote anonymity
I'm curious as to why you are so open with a telephone number in a cache, and yet choose to hide it when posting it onto the forum? Because only a thousand or so of my fellow cachers will see the phone number in my caches (if they look for it), whereas the forum is available to the whole world. I a...

Re: Stashnote anonymity
I should be putting more on mine I guess. Mine are often opportunistic hides so I wouldn't have the code to put on it. One problem I can see (and it isn't an excuse for not putting contact details on stashnotes) is that mobile phone numbers and email addresses change over time. I think putting GC c...

Re: Stashnote anonymity
Sorry about the sidetrack, but I thought it needed mentioning . . That's fine Bunya. I was just using it as an abbreviation. I hope everyone reading this knows that... And in regards to the two posts from blossom and caughtatwork - I'm very happy to stand corrected about rarely seeing identity info...

Stashnote anonymity
This has been gnawing at me for a while. So I'd like to have a discussion about stashnotes and their amazing ability of hiding their owner's true identity. Ever since I got into caching I have been dismayed at the generic stashnote that reads something like this (and I paraphrase): "...If possible, ...

Re: Flash lights
The X21 and TK70 are really nice torches but might be a little bit overkill. Do those things come with welding goggles or are they an extra cost? Do they need to be registered with law enforcement? Does insurance cover your blinded victims?   But seriously, I like your idea of a savi...

Re: Flash lights
I use a Fenix LD10 ($50 on Amazon) which takes one AA eneloop rechargeable and puts out 100 lumens which is enough to light up the darkest hole in a stump on the brightest sunny day. It also comes with a reversible pocket clip that enables it to fit onto the peak of a cap for night caching. A future...

Re: A BETTER use for 35mm film canisters
Plan C:
1. I've made a generic version with no cacher name on it.
2. Download the .pdf file: http://andrewmcphee.com/CITO%20film%20c ... eneric.pdf
3. Print on Avery DL 14 labels

Re: A BETTER use for 35mm film canisters
The Label looks great. But how do we get our hands on the label?? I created the label using Adobe InDesign CS5 on a Mac. Plan A: 1. Tell me your email address. 2. Tell me what you want changed on the label (eg. the caching name, any text added/removed/changed) 3. I'll make the changes and then emai...

Re: Delete user account please!
Well thanks anyway. And thanks for all you do around GCA. The place wouldn't be the same without you. =D> Oh, and thanks for getting me into this obsessive past-time. I heard about caching from a Green Guide article you were featured in back in 2009. I blame you for everything that's happened to me ...

Delete user account please!
Hi, way back when I started on the GCA forum I somehow ended up with two accounts. I'd like one deleted please.
Delete: GCA Forum Profile: Macca27
Keep: GCA Forum Profile: TwoDrews
If you can do this I'll owe you a beer. You better give me your address so I know where to send it...

Re: A BETTER use for 35mm film canisters
You guys have inspired me. I have a bunch of film cans, a pack of labels and heaps of shopping bags I was going to recycle. I have now seen the light. So I knocked up a label... http://andrewmcphee.com/geocaching/CITO%20film%20can%20labels.gif and drilled a hole in the top and bottom of each film ca...

Re: Cache contents
I have no idea what makes a good swap for a child, but that looks good. What REALLY impresses me is that it has a value on it! On the rare occasion that I take a fancy to something in a cache, I have no idea whatsoever to replace the item with. I am sure that I sometimes leave a replacement that is...

Re: Cache contents
What do people suggest as good kids booty ? Here's an idea for kid's booty I came up with today. Haven't put them into any caches so end-user acceptance hasn't been fully tested yet, but FWIW my 13yo son thinks it's a pretty cool idea. http://andrewmcphee.com/geocaching/Kids%20pack-600px.jpg The bi...

So lemmykc, it's been four months we've been hanging out here for an update mate! How did the trip go? Got a report for us?
