Well yes, a GPX file as a POI (point of interest) file , ie a file that you can upload to the GPSr to show locations, as in not a waypoint. They are searchable and you can enter proximity alarms. I am aware of the Google Earth feature, which is pretty much the data that it should be, is there any w...

I just did a bit of searching on the GC forums (should have done that before) and found a thread there that discusses the problems, it seems I am not the only bunny having the problem and they have a fix, but dont know when it will be applied. Cheers. Modu Groundspeak Forums > General Geocaching Di...

You may find that the forum software deactivates your account and sends an activation link by email to the current listed email address, the same as happens when you change an email address, except in that case the email goes to the new email address.

Its sort of there now in that you can download a Google Earth kml file showing the location of all finds for the locationless cache.
like http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga0643.kml for Marking Many Milestones.
The Oziexplorer waypoint file is only showing one waypoint. That needs to be looked at.

Its an old problem Swampy. Its in the bbs (forum) code, not the cache listing code. Normal apostrophes (by that I mean ones that are not copied/pasted from a Microsoft product) are ok. (" and '). If you have a careful look at the apostrophes generated by Word you will see the look slightly different...

This question pops up from time to time, I'm wondering if we should change the wording, or add a wiki link to the text. The cache details for externally listed caches reads: This cache is listed on an external site. Please click on the waypoint link above to view the cache. The reason we don't speci...

Thanks, I checked that one, it doesn't play nice with the code as currently written.

I didn't find a question mark amongst the icons there so the exclamation mark on red is what you get for the time being. http://maps.google.com/mapfiles/kml/shapes/info_circle.png I didn't look under shapes but that looks a bit too big. I still haven't found a full list of what is available. Do you...

A couple of related questions. Mystery/ puzzle caches show up on GC.com with the question mark icon beside the name indicating the correct type, but are labeled unknown at the very top of the page. Any ideas why? And following on, as most of the 'unknown' caches in Google Earth are actually puzzle/...

Thanks for all the hard work
We haven't got any control over happenings at GC. Google maps work ok for me from our cache pages.

click on one and read the cache type.

flag= trad
martini glass = event
two hills = multi
pink camera = shutterspot
webcam = webcam
sun and cloud = earthcache
! on red = unknown
green whatnot = virtual
road = moveable

I think that's right.

I'll create a kml with one of each later and post a link

One of the reasons we see a lot of these spam type registration attempts is a vain attempt to use this site to increase their site ranking in search engines. This doesn't work as we changed the code some time ago so the website links are no longer visible at registration and even after the new site ...
