eTrex Click-Stick Fixed!

My Garmin eTrex Venture has been pretty much unusable for at least 6 months now due to the rarely working click-stick, and only mostly working screen. Every time the Ebenezerling (he is 2 1/2) suggests we "go find a geocache" my mind turns to doing battle with the eTrex. Consequently we haven't been...

AFAIK you cannot conver the UBD DVD to ozf2 format. The UBD DVD only works with the "desktop" Ozi.

I've tried bread crumbs but the ratbag muggle magpies keep eating them.
Ah ha! The odlids are tricked into revealing a clue!

Do you have the ECW add-on for Ozi? See http://64.71.184.220/eng/optional_extras.html (scroll down to "ECW Image Loading Support Files") You need to manually install this. By default the import will probably create a .map file with a similar name to the .ecw file. You shouldn't need to rename anythi...

GPSBabel can convert waypoint files to different formats. Sorry if the answer to this is obvious, but why would you want UHF repeater stations in GSAK?

We're off to Tamworth on Thursday, although we're hoping to do some of the Armidale caches too. We'll keep our UHF radios firmly on channel 15, and not channel 20! One two-way radio and portable radios tuned to channel 20 were also located in the car http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2005/12/20/1135032...

Hmm. I wonder if it supports older versions of the UBD maps. I have the 2xCD version. I will give it a spin when I get home.

I noticed that one of the new "features" listed for Ozi is compatibility with the new UBD product. I would be interested to know if the map images are in a format that Ozi already supported, or if Ozi has added support for the encrypted format that UBD already uses.

You can buy a better PDA _and_ a more robust GPS for the same or less money than you'd spend on a combined unit. True, but I'm talking about a situation where you already have the PDA and the GPS. In fact I also already have a connecting cable. I generally use the PDA only for driving to the closes...

Has anyone had any experience with one of these: http://www.pc-mobile.net/bta.htm It is a "Bluetooth GPS Adapter". Basically you plug a serial GPS into it, and you can receive the GPS data via Bluetooth. "If you want a Bluetooth GPS, why not just buy one?" I hear you ask. Consider that you already h...

I found this site the other day:

It has links to various sites that have live lightening tracker applets. Pretty cool.

e-trex Legend-C (colour) experiences?

Does anyone have any experience with an etrex Legend-C? What is the colour screen like in bright sunlight? How does the click-stick go over time? (My experience with the Venture is that it stops working well after a year or so.) Is it the magic bullet to vastly improve my cache finding abilities? :)

If any of my family are reading this.... Well Christmas is approaching OK?

I'm wondering if the Legend C suffers from the same click-stick problems as the old Legend. Has anyone here had one long enough to comment on this? (ie > 12 months)

I am on my second Venture now. They sometimes tend to suffer problems with the click-stick, in that after a while it becomes unreliable. My first Venture lasted just over a year before this problem set in, and my replacement one is now doing it as well. I believe the (b&w) Legends can have similar i...
