Re: Making non-live geocaches for a sporting day
For Science Week I assist with the same type of event here and we set out about 12 caches on the CSIRO facility at Black Mt. We create the WP's and upload them to GSAK, then we can download them to the GPSr's we use for the event whenever we need to. Works really well.

Re: Hiding Caches with a Smartphone..
One way to perhaps overcome the inaccurate coordinates problem would be to include a detailed description of where the cache is hidden (eg in the stump or under the NE corner of the structure). Then the coordinates will get the cacher to the general area and the description will tell them where to l...

Re: Weird find - any thoughts
Doing a cache today at the top of one of Canberra's accessible and scenic hills, I came across a ziploc bag containing a folded piece of paper with the word Yogi on it. It was taped in a spot easy to find but out of the way of the casual observer. I originally thought that this may have been a new ...

Re: Oregon Question
Has anyone else with an Oregon had an issue with boot time since the last update? Every time I boot my Oregon it now seems to take forever to load the .gpx file. Hopefully it isn't just me, but equally hopefully someone knows a solution! I find the first time it starts up after replacing the geocac...

Re: Cachers who refuses to sign the log book
I think you should go easy on him, he's found the cache and isn't trying to claim finds in places that would be impossible to visit. He's done the main part of geocaching which is finding the container, I don't think it's worth worrying about people writing in the logbook, logging the find online, ...

Re: Garmin Montana
I got my RAM bike mount for the Montana today. Very sturdy. No way it will come out. I also had a play with the birds eye satellite imagery. Pretty good, but the contrast of the images is poor compared to google maps, but they are good enough to show tracks where there are none on the topo maps. Fo...

I do everything that is single handed with my left by anything two handed I am right. I confuse them with cricket as I bowl left and bat right .CraigRat wrote:I'm left handed for writing only

GSAK will create a menu driven HTML file that you can then use to navigate to the individual cache page. It is one file but you can view the individual cache pages.
I used it on my Windows Mobile before I got a paperless GPSr.

Re: The Moving Cache Race for 2011/2012
What about a theme that requires/makes possible a contribution form the finder. An example might be an unpainted gnome that gets some shoes from one finder and a garden tool from the next... A bike frame that gets a wheel... seat... A sketch book... thumb drive... Inclusion - contribution not just ...

I also have a LED Lensor P7 Hand torch that is quite handy. I too carry a P7 as well as a cheap version for the Geokids when they come out after dark. Additionally I sometimes use my Black Diamond caving headlamp or more often a cap I brought from the hardware store that has LED's in the peak. One ...

Re: Emails when your cache is logged
I agree with not being able to turn off the Needs Maintenance (etc) logs and whilst I would elect to keep getting my e-mails I may also wish to suspend them for a while if I was not going to be able to check my e-mails for a while, to prevent clogging my inbox.
