Depending on what garmin you end up buying the base map can be turned off.
So once you load it with Aus maps the base map will make no difference.

I find that with the maps I have installed and depending on the area, some times I have to turn some maps on for others to be able to see others.

On my 60csx i can disable all maps that I have loaded plus the us base map.
Or I can wipe all maps from it and still disable the base map.
And you have tried to take the tick away from the base map?
Does the base map in yours even have a box to tick or untick?

I have read the manual for vista here
and page 14, map set up looks like my 60csx and shows how to toggle off and on each map loaded.

Go into set up and maps, then turn off the base map. Do this after you have installed the shonkey maps or the tracks 4 Aust maps.

However in 3 weeks I'm heading to NSW for a weekend and want to take it there since it has not yet left QLD in its life. I hope so, it does not look to be active or add to the track distance but I wanted to print the map with the track but I get this line thats annoying.

hi I have been playing with another track and I have another prob. I have deleted parts of a track where we took a wrong turn and now the track has snapped from the last point on the track to another point back where I deleted the other points from. Any ideas why it would do this and how to stop it?...
