'Placing' a trig point - what's the protocol?
I found a trig point on the weekend that isn't listed on the GCA site. It's the circle on top of the four legs type with the survey marker underneath. It's in a national park with easy access, albeit a reasonable walk to it (I'd rate it about 3 star terrain) and sits right next to a lookout with abs...

Re: Personal notes on a cache page
Excuse if I'm covering old ground but can the Private Tags part of a particular cache page be used for making comments?

Re: Grabbing moveables - feature request
Don't get me wrong, in no way was this meant to be a criticism of their work. I agree that they do a fantastic job and on limited resources too all the while keeping our Oz site free unlike our international overlord which is by now a multi-million dollar enterprise (i.e. US$30 per year times 'X' pr...

Re: Grabbing moveables - feature request
The model I was thinking of for GCA moveables would be, in effect, exactly how GC trackables work (for all intents and purposes, that's really what GCA moveables are after all). For example, discovering a GC trackable is the same as finding a GCA moveable and leaving it in place. The find of each is...

Grabbing moveables - feature request
I'm not sure whether this has been previously requested (apologies if it has ) but could there be an extra feature added to moveables such as 'Grabbed' or 'Taken' similar to how GC trackables are done? Completing such an action would increment the taker's finds by one (similar to GC trackables...

Re: GCA cache visibility query - Oregon 650
Ah yes, I used to have a similar sort of problem with the Oregon 300. The trouble is that once the 2000 limit was passed, the caches it wouldn't show seemed to be random (that wasn't the problem with GA4175 though, it just wouldn't show that one. It's not an issue now of course.) Interestingly, ther...

Re: GCA cache visibility query - Oregon 650
Got it! On one of the Oregon's frustratingly interminable excursions to a random screen, it has somehow turned off 'moveable' caches via the filter system. ](*,) I found the problem when I did a search on nearby GCA caches using 'GA' as the search criteria. Only a few virtuals showed up and the penn...

Re: GCA cache visibility query - Oregon 650
Most of the time I just use a query that includes every GCA cache in Victoria that I haven't done, that I don't own and that isn't on my ignore list. Once generated, I just plonk the output file straight in the drive:/Garmin/GPX folder on the Oregon. I'll usually update the file once a week but when...

Re: GCA cache visibility query - Oregon 650
GA4865 was fine for me when I found it on 19 Feb last year (2003).
This is really quite intriguing. Is GCA not communicating with Oregons correctly? (Don't worry, I'm blaming Garmin, not GCA. )

Re: GCA cache visibility query - Oregon 650
The plot thickens! No change with GA6598 and I too can't 'see' GA5181 (another one I haven't found yet). GA4783 was also an issue for me with the Oregon 650 this morning. This happened to me last year with GA4175 when the Oregon 300 was still alive and well. I've loaded GA4175 into the Oregon 650 an...

GCA cache visibility query - Oregon 650
I'm not sure if this should go here, the Geocaching.com Web site forum or the Software / Hardware Solutions forum but I'll give it a whirl here as it relates to a GCA cache. Can anyone 'see' this cache, Lost Angel # 6 (GA6598) , on an Oregon device, particularly an Oregon 650? I've loaded it as the ...

Re: Garmin Oregon 650
Thanks G but unfortunately, I don't think I'm on my Pat Malone here. This from the Garmin Oregon 6XX wiki : https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-pQu_LKKbOSA/Uz4o5Wz8kLI/AAAAAAAAMvI/bSftXXkIRvE/w905-h426-no/650+Wiki.JPG I'm hoping that Garmin will fix this issue shortly but it looks like they're more i...

Re: Garmin Oregon 650
While I'm here, I have a few issues with my Oregon 650. Is anyone else having a problem with flash photography? In darkness, either the flash is unsynchronised with the shot rendering the photograph useless or it 'hangs' the unit necessitating the removal of the batteries for it to restart. It does,...

Re: Garmin Oregon 650
Version 3.8 is out (see http://garminoregon6xx.wikispaces.com/Firmware ) although this looks rather ominous: Warning ● 3.80 ● Multiple reports of frequent lock-ups and crashes. (Crash 21) ● Many users report improved v3.80 stability after deleting all content in \Garmin\CustomSymbols\ directory. (Ga...
