Re: BIT Caches (aka QR Code Caches)
So, the difference between a BITcache and a standard GA cache with a QR for verification of the find is that the site would auto-authenticate the QR codeword? Sounds worthwhile, just to avoid the hassle of needing to email the owner for permission to log, or having the codeword written into logs by ...

Re: Android phones for geocaching
What's it like for caching on? I was thinking of getting one. Is it as impressive as it looks? I second most of CraigRat's comments, except that I haven't noticed any sensitivity issues vs my GPS60S. For placing caches, the GPS Average app is useful, and I now use my GNex to get coords with complet...

Re: Leaving cash good or bad ??
Like giving a loved one money for a birthday present, it does seem like the easy, no-thought option.
I guess there's a justification if there's a swap in a cache that you really, really want but aren't carrying any swag of your own...

Re: Palm Tungsten E2 and maps
Although I still have a soft spot for Palms (had lots of them from the Palmpilot Personal onwards, president of the Palm User Group, etc.), they're becoming less and less useful. You can pick up a cheap Android phone for about $50 new (locked to a carrier, probably, but you can still use it as a PDA...

Re: Has anyone mentioned Google Drive yet?
One area that they haven't caught up Dropbox on, though, is LAN syncing. If you put a big file or three on Dropbox, it syncs to the other computers (including phones and tablets, of course) over the LAN rather than multiple downloads via your Internet connection. Much faster and saves using up ISP b...

Re: Being reamed for data charges when overseas
Why not get a micro-SIM for the iPhone and just use it as a hotspot for the laptop's connection?
I haven't use a USB dongle for ages, since getting a smartphone.
Mama Bear's on her way to Spain at the moment, and we bought a pre-paid SIM online that has better rates than we get locally!

Re: No cache size? No hint? What the?
Well months later these two new ones still can't be found. And I don't need to say anything about Bifrost. We really have given up on these. I don't think this has happened before to a community! There's got to be a way to find these... Why? We find caches for fun (even the numbers addicts, hopeful...

Re: Android GPS problem
I suspect this comes under bleedin' obvious, but do you have a consistent data connection? The GPS uses that to get the ephemeris and rough location to get a quick fix, and the stand-alone GPS chip/software is painfully slow without it. If you don't usually use 3G data, you might not've noticed tha...

Re: Groundspeak "listing-service exclusivity on Mega-Events"
Apart from the (admittedly somewhat justified) sour grapes element, I don't think it's our call to proactively protect the organisers of Mega Events from our 'sponsorship' Sure, there shouldn't be mention of GCA on the listing (same as any cache), but apart from that, I doubt that discussions on the...

Re: Half-price Sistemas!
And very timely it was, too, as I have an event coming up where I needed 50 odd small containers!
BTW, don't go to the Coles in Kalamunda if you want 200ml containers; they're out of stock.

No, the sound they make when they find the cache is cachinnation!
cachinnation [ˌkækɪˈneɪʃən]
n
1. raucous laughter
2. (Psychiatry) Inappropriate laughter, sometimes found in schizophrenia

Well, the obvious is
A cache of geocachers
Others?
A search of cachers
A multi of cachers
A smiley of cachers
ACNoC (A Collective Noun of Cachers. We do love our acronyms and initialisms!)

Dropbox offer
G'Day Have you managed to avoid getting a Dropbox account so far? Why?! It's a great way to transfer files between your various computers and smartphones, share files with friends, back up photos and such from your smartphone automatically, etc. And now you can start off with an extra 500MB, in addi...
