Re: Event stacking
There is no need for event stacking really. gc.com rules state that people are not required to sign the event log. So if you want to 'bump your numbers', just search for events and log a smilie. "An event cache can be logged online if the cacher has attended the event. Event cache owners can reques...

Re: Event stacking
I think I have a macro somewhere on this topic..... Ah, yes, here it is! Of course, most of the problems about events would go away if they didn't count as a smiley. I mean, there's nothing to find (other than a park or a pub or whatever) and if you need added incentive to turn up beyond socialising...

Re: an 'invisible' garmin....
Well, last variable to try... Find someone with a GPS60 to plug into your PC to see if that connects. It probably will, but it'd be interesting if it didn't...

Re: an 'invisible' garmin....
Go through some of the usual troubleshooting procedures, first of which is isolating variables. Try a different USB cable, then try a different computer (a friend's if you're a monocomputer household) Make sure the GPSr hasn't changed its 'interface' setting somehow. Take out the microSD card. If no...

Re: Anyone ever get sacked (or nearly) for geocaching?
I had an understanding boss. He twigged early on that urgent visits to customers who weren't usually on our radar coincided with FTF opportunities, but I actually uncovered some new business this way, so it all came out in the wash! I thought you drive a bus? Do you take them on a detour past a FTF...

Re: Help! Bulk waypoint creation on gc.com
They're REFERENCE POINTS, not SoaM waypoints! Anyone who visits each of them won't even be a "TF" let alone the "FTF"!
It's looking like I might be doing some repetitive typing, or at least using a macro recorder type program with some hand-made custom entries...

Help! Bulk waypoint creation on gc.com
G'Day I have a new cache where I need to enter quite a few reference point waypoints (as in, more than 100) and I really want to avoid doing this by typing in each one. I have the coords in text format (and can manipulate them as required) and the name/prefix etc. can be anything. Any thoughts on a ...

Re: Interesting little gadget for sale at ALDI
Don't forget, though, that most of those features are software. Basically, it's an Android phone without a screen or digitiser/keypad, so they're using chips that are made in the tens or hundreds of millions. Even the battery is small by phone standards, as the screen's usually a major power cost.

Re: Interesting little gadget for sale at ALDI
It's a nice small unit, which is its main advantage over a cheap Android pre-paid phone. (I've used a $29 Galaxy S5 running MyTracks while hiking and it lasted 8 hours or so.)

Re: No more Evince ???
Prime is a US reviewer and cacher and he's been having hosting issues lately, so this is probably a symptom of those. Just as background interest, he was an early reviewer who seemed to be getting through a lot more caches than anyone else. When his superhuman powers were examined, it came down to h...

April Fools Day
Any pranks to report? Groundspeak did one, in conjunction with a few reviewers who placed caches that appear to've been listed on 1APR00. (It didn't seem funny enough for me to bother joining in on this one...) Go to hamstercaching.com, though, and see the latest from shop.geocaching.com Freddo's go...

Re: GSAK on android tablet
You are right. There's no way of putting records into the GPS , which is why I wanted it. Guess I'll have to continue lugging laptop . not entirely true , depending on your Tablet it might work with an OTG cable, if it can "mount" the GPS drive. Yes, but that only works if you either pre-convert yo...

Re: Ideas for Activities at a Winter Event
How about a "Beat Chillyrear to the FTF" item? We chain John to some immovable object (and it'll need to be DAMN solid), then get a new cache published a hundred metres away. He watches while 200 teams get a joint FTF... AHEAD OF HIM!

Re: Two million caches
Well, it's rolled over to 2,000,026 sometime in the last half hour or so!
I was publishing caches at the time, so there's a chance that the 2million was an Aussie cache, but it's more likely to be German, just by statistics.
