Re: Augmented Reality Geocaches

Geocaching Australia today announces the introduction of Augmented Reality geocaches. Its been interesting watching the list of GCA AR Caches grow. It was fun to develop one too. Just a couple of observations, particularly if you are using Metaverse. If you are relying on visitors going to the site...

Re: Geosportz 2018

I had to smile when I read the message about the extra Commonwealth Games points ... I live in Commonwealth Games central, in fact my street is 'locked in' for the two road cycling events. No traffic in or out between 4am to 7pm on two separate days. In addition I have one cache now disabled because...

Re: Discussion topic. Games = trash caches being made

We always encourage quality hides on Geocaching Australia, especially during our games, as can be read on the SotN home page: http://geocaching.com.au/dragonzone/game/statesofthenation Hiding geocaches will also be a large part of the scavenger series, but please remember this is a game of geocachi...

Re: Equity Concerns in the States Of the Nation Game

I think we also need to recognise that not all finds for those close to borders will be outside their home state and not all will be max point finds. Might be an issue in a close race, but could well be irrelevant by games end. The multiplier to level out the numbers between states could prove to b...

Re: Equity Concerns in the States Of the Nation Game

I have just been to Gold Coast & noticed if I hid a cache and didn't change it from NSW it would accept it and give me a warning saying the state didn't match but trusted my judgement. Curious about your maintenance plan for those caches? GCA cachers are *very* thin on the ground in this region so ...

Re: 2017/2018 Summer Game

Might be a problem with one of this week's scavenges.

The criteria is "Find and Log Locationless geocache: Noddy Cars (GA3333)"

Trouble is that GA3333 is actually Mosaics #2 by corunnaroad
Noddy Cars by Bristracker has the code GA2692

Hmmmn :-k

Petan (Susan) checking in. Us Queenslanders should be old hands at this, after last summer's caching games.

Will signed notes be provided? Something I can hand to the boss to explain why I need several days off work to geocache. :D

Doubled Up TrigPoints

I noticed this morning one of our local CORS now has two Trigpoint caches assigned to it. TP7252 Kingscliff GPS (CORS) is the older 'cache' published 24 Dec 2015 TP7636 Tweed CORS is more recently published 19 May 2017. While the information on both cache pages are slightly different, the GPS co-ord...

Re: May Madness Bonanza

I saw the "May-ntenance Month" note in this morning's daily email. Will a forum fayre or the like be 'reviewing' the NA logs down the track? I know GCA is self managed but in my local area there are several caches which I have placed a NA log (after having left a NM log 3-4 months earlier) where the...

Re: What's new on Geocaching Australia

I wasn't suggesting that it was real, more applauding the fact that to effort to set this up would have been considerably more than a simple forum post.

Well played to whichever admin is responsible.

Although, I'd note the date - could be a coincidence, or not.

Quite a lot of effort for an 'or not'. =D>

Re: History Cache

The last thing we want to see is armchair logging happening on our caches. That was my point with the 'how many can I solve without leaving home' experiment. I also started a discussion on the fact that History Caches acquire no Dragon Zone points and one of the counter arguments was that armchair ...
