Re: New Program - GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife)
I can't really see how that would work as easily as getting the documented ranges from the URLs above, and I won't annoy anybody further by asking how you would restrict a query to gc.com caches and wind up with date ranges containing just under 1,000 caches so you can set up a series of PQs.

Re: New Program - GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife)
You can also build a GCA query and run the range option. Covers what ever strange selection criteria you like. http://geocaching.com.au/my/query/ That will only get you details for GCA caches however, unless I'm mistaken. Non-downloadable things like ranges and gmaps etc will also return other site...

Re: "Commercial" events?
From what I can see every shop page has the GCA Logo at the top and this at the bottom.

Re: "Commercial" events?
The point, is best not to put all this to the test by straying from neutrality in commercial matters. You guys have done a terrific job over the years. I certainly don't want to create any more work for you by asking a lot of questions about how you run your business (even if it is a hobby run for t...

Re: "Commercial" events?
There is no GCA. There is only the geocaching community who are member of the GCA website. As there aren't enough GCA caches to restrict yourself to one site, a discussion on a Groundspeak cache probably has interest to all of us. Especially since if this event goes ahead there may be others of a s...

Re: "Commercial" events?
It seems ironic that GCA was formed in an atmosphere of rebelling against the restrictions and commercial controls imposed by Groundspeak. Free and open caching was the catch cry.
Now there seems to be all this concern that the Groundspeak rules are followed to the nth degree.

Re: "Commercial" events?
I think it's probably meant by gc.com to protect their commercial interests by not providing a vehicle for advertising by their competitors. This seems perfectly reasonable. It's the interpretation that sometimes gets a bit mystifying. A couple of years ago I had a vague reference to a nearby shoppin...

Re: How many people still visit the forums
10% of people who try geocaching go on with it.
That might be a high percentage. It's difficult to compare it with other activities, but I'd imagine it's not all that low.
How many people try various sports and don't go on with them in a serious way?
Hard to know really.

Re: New Program - GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife)
I have all the caches in Australia broken up into PQs ordered by Date Placed within each state. For example: Vic 01 08 Oct 2000 to 27 Nov 2006 - contains just less than 1000 caches Vic 02 28 Nov 2006 to 07 Jan 2009 - contains just less than 1000 caches You can run 10 PQs per day, so you can download...

Re: New Program - GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife)
One thing GSAK doesn't support is scrolling down the cache list by dragging down on the touch screen.
Not sure why, because this a very natural thing to want to do.
I have put a request for this in the GSAK forum.

Re: New Program - GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife)
I have it running on a Surface Pro 3. Fantastic machine. I run it in a dock as a desktop, with keyboard, mouse, two external monitors and a PROBOX drive bay with the four HDDs from old desktop in it. Then I just pull it out of the dock and becomes a laptop with the magnetic keypad, or a tablet. It's...

Re: How many people still visit the forums
No one finding some of my harder caches (think 2 to 3 hour hike multis) for years doesn't help. The game has changed. Lost its covert extreme sport status = lost its appeal. I don't think you could be further from the truth, well maybe things are different in SA. Here in Victoria there are speciali...

Re: How many people still visit the forums
I check in once a month probably, but I find FB much better in terms of getting answers to questions, or finding out what's going on in the caching world. I think most of the people here are content to have an interface to other cachers through their PC, while people on facebook are always organisin...

Look at the 2 nd last one to find it, nearly 18,000 trackables logged.
That is amazing.
