Earthcaches are virtuals. They don't generally get people to detour off their intended route. Visits comparisons against nearby real caches can easily back that up. (Many people exclude them from their gps uploads.) I have at least two in my area that are obstructing placement of genuine caches as u...

Colorado locks up on opening some caches - yours too?
Hi all, I've been caching with a Colorado 300 since May. Very happy with it. I have noticed though that sometimes it locks up. I noticed on a log tonight that Tealby had the same problem as I did trying to open the description for Woozle Hunt V1.2 in Melbourne. So my question is: Have you found a ca...

Hi All, I've just had my attention drawn to this thread. I'm probably one who fits the different persona category, as sometimes I manage to come across in an entirely unintended manner in threads. A long discussion with another cacher the other night pointed out that a few people who I've never met ...

I think the general lack of interest in waymarking speaks for itself. As far as I can work out from much discussion around the time of virtuals going the way of the dodo, cachers did the odd virtual but didn't really like them all that much. They did them if it was close by or on their way to somewh...

In the mean time, it just might be time for me to change my user name to something a little less obvious. :D

cheers
Dan Ranger Dan has a nice ring to it.... DJ PS There is a thread along these lines you may or may not have seen regarding caching at Wilsons Prom that you may be i...

So where do they fit with the 160m rule? If there is nothing to confuse with another cache does that mean that an Earthcache and a Geocache may happily coexist? And why when there was so much trouble gone to to eliminate virtuals, do we now have virtual caches again. If leaving no trace is the goal ...

My understanding is that the virtual nature of these caches might be an easier way to guarantee that the finder has gained some information about the Geological significance of the area, even if the "hider" hasn't actually been to the location themselves. Map Monkey 1. There should not be any cache...

That's all well and good Craig. But why should an Earthcache placed by someone from interstate preclude the placement of a real cache in a location by a local. That's a bit pointless. Given the choice of real or virtual, all the cachers I know choose a traditional or multi. If I come down there next...
