Re: best garmin gps maping

I use the openmtbmaps.org maps (regular not velomaps which are more directed at road/racing bikes) They work best with Windows, although as of last month there is now Mac versions too :) They come as an easy installer onto your computer for BaseCamp and let you select a display mode that works best ...

Cotswold I've had no trouble using Safari on the iPad, apart from they way it can't open more than a couple of tabs on the browser and trying to zoom i...

Re: Bingo - The moving cache race for 2012/2013

I had created a QR Code for one of my Bingo caches using that link above & when my daughter got home had her scan it & it worked. I then downloaded the same app - Redlaser but it doesn't work on my phone for QR Codes despite saying that it reads barcodes & QR Codes. More of the same. Even the bar c...

Re: Bingo - The moving cache race for 2012/2013

New feature request - Moveables Inventory I'm not expecting this for this year's race, but what I'm finding is that as I query for Bingo caches unfound by me, it's not quite so easy to determine which caches you (should) still have in your possession and in doing so get a quick way of accessing the...

Re: Bingo - The moving cache race for 2012/2013

Melbourne Bingoees I saw a banner up this evening that there will be a working bee in Wattle Park this Saturday. There are a few larger caches here, could somebody please rescue them before then just in case they get discovered and trashed?.... and Its a popular place to hide moveables (especially f...

Re: Bingo - The moving cache race for 2012/2013

I've already found and moved a pushbike today. I'm still saying no for whole cars but hub caps are fair game lol Wait, someone else hid a bike? Excellent!!! :D As I headed out and returned from grabbing 3 Bingo caches at morning tea time, I spotted a little tricycle and a child's bike or two across...

Re: Bingo - The moving cache race for 2012/2013

So, there's been a hubcap sitting in the nature strip near my house for the last...month and a bit. Is it wrong to attach a bison tube, and go publish it? :-" I've already found and moved one only it had a film cannister glued on. I thought it was rather good - and one you can just about hide...

Re: Bingo - The moving cache race for 2012/2013

Heads up for a little "problem" with the logging - and one I did myself a few times... When you make your move, be sure to change the log type to "Moved" - it's very easy to miss/forget and log with the default "Found" type which makes things a bit confusing. Easy to edit the log to fix it th...

Re: Bingo - The moving cache race for 2012/2013

Temporary moves "en route" while a mate picks up the cache is OK, but gross fake logs to accumulate distance points is not in the spirit of the game. Glad this one is official, but lets face it how else can you do it? Twice yesterday I bumped into eager Bingoees on the hunt chasing the same caches,...

Re: Bingo - The moving cache race for 2012/2013

Don't you hate it when you move a cache and you move it along - only to notice on the map its a little close to the starting location to call it a valid move or not :-k So you fire up your favourite caching tool and a quick calculation reveals you have fallen short by about 30m from the required 1km...

Re: Bingo - The moving cache race for 2012/2013

\:D/ WE JUST PASSED THE FROGS :frog :frogette  23:24h Nov 30th and there are 482 BINGO Caches from 87 players. Still many fewer players than last year, but more caches each :D \:D/ OK 400 was an easy mark to beat - so can it be 500+ come midnight? "There are 484 Bingo caches belonging to 8...

Re: Bingo - The moving cache race for 2012/2013

For that reason its important to log finds ASAP - if not in the field (I can't) then as soon as you get to the 'net so that others following in your footsteps don't have to search fruitlessly or waste a trip. Also why a clear hint is important so that its obvious you're looking in the exactly the r...

Re: Bingo - The moving cache race for 2012/2013

/quote]You can use any text you like in the log, just say something like "ready to travel" or whatever. The critical thing is to make it a "Publish" type of log and to make certain the Date for the log is 1/12/12. (and ensure there is a Public Tag of "bingo" for your caches) Thanks[/quote] The impo...
