Re: The return of Challenge caches

Has anyone published one since the end of the moratorium? Or know of any new ones?

I'm wondering about putting the checker in the description. I can see where you can get them made but I'm not sure how to do the rest. I may or may not place a challenge cache yet.

Re: Pokemon Go

From what I can see it looks like it gets kids away from staring at devices indoors and gets them outdoors - staring at devices.

The real world sucks, apparently.

Re: Pokemon Go

Yes it's all over the news. My s-i-l who always dissed geocaching is busy trumpeting its benefits on FB. She always trumpets whatever is currently trendy and then drops it when the next thing comes along.

If it gets kids outdoors it's good but will it last? Mine are too old to care about it now.

Re: CCCC: Cache Construction Centre of Competence

The other day I found a brand new cache that consisted of a bison tube with no lid just a bit of tape around it with a stick attached to pull the log out. I'm not sure this is a good development. Hiding for numbers? Is the lid used for another cache? Not much use for anything by itself.

Graffiti in the bush/National Parks

This is something I've noticed in recent years. Walking through the bush on tracks like the Great North Walk and in some areas every exposed rock has been graffitied or 'tagged'. Once you'd only see the odd scrawl in a rock shelter but it seems these scumbags have run out of spots they can paint wit...

The return of Challenge caches

So it seems they are back in a modified form based on the surveys that were done.

New guidelines:

1.22. Challenge Caches

Haven't read through it yet. Post what changes you find. Hope it's an improvement.

Re: 100 Trig find reward

Received another reward recently too! Thanks Roger! Here's the chart of the top trig finders. Didn't realise I'd cracked 400. Have done very few in the last year or so. Need to travel further afield as most of the Sydney ones are long found. http://geocaching.com.au/stats/cachers/gca/au/0500_cachers...

Re: unlisted trig stations

I spotted the Lethbridge Park one about a year ago and published all the points - called it Bidwill test line I think as that was the suburb I was in. There's one at Moruya Heads you haven't listed but you can find it on GCA. Also there's sort of a line by the Wakehurst Parkway south of Forestville ...

Re: Cachers setting ALL their hides difficulty at 1.5 stars

Ah the app restrictions might explain why I'm finding caches hidden up in the roof of bus shelters with a T rating of 1.5. I always make a comment in my log about the T rating being wrong but I never go back and check if they change it. Most probably wouldn't. In fact I think a lot of caches are zom...

Re: Does anyone know what this is?

There are pics and names of the members of Worst Cache Scenario on this page: http://worstcachescenario.com/#introductions No cacher names though. Someone here will know these faces surely. Someone amongst them likes to take photos of their friendly little 'bomb' (if that's what it is) around the pl...

Re: Daily cache update - same caches keep appearing

Extraordinarily long email this morning. A lot of new caches but then a massive list of changed caches which seem to have the coords changed slightly (and more than slightly it seems). Any ideas what caused this?

(not complaining, just interested)

Re: Sydney...Crosslands..Boardwalk Empire

The CO probably submitted it but it got rejected for being in a National Park and they never came back to get it. There's a spot called Refuge Rock out at Cherrybrook where I went to look at setting up an Earthcache a year ago. When there I spotted a rock in front of a niche in the cliff and pulled ...

Re: Any lessons for the newbies to be learnt here?

My second cache was placed in 2009 and I think it never had a DNF and was never muggled... until last week. There was a DNF from a 'reputable' cacher so I thought something must be wrong. Found that the cache was missing and then noted that the entire area (near a sports oval) was now free of rubbis...
