Re: Trig points - a general discussion
I'll find them, not a problem for me. But, according to the GCA guidelines, they are NOT trigs. That's all.

Re: Trig points - a general discussion
Someone (who won't own up - PROBABLY rogerw3) has been publishing under the "Geocaching Australia" ownership, a series of "CORS" recently in the Canberra/ACT/Yass/Braidwood under the TRIG type cache in GCA. IN FACT, ALL OVER NSW. 1 - who are they. 2 - These things are not really Trigs per se. Accord...

Re: Jervis Bay Territory caches - listed as NSW
Yes, doing a PQ by state will miss these if they are not in NSW. Doing a PQ by proximity to a cache or by coords WILL pull these up (if no state selected). Thus, agree with you, people in the area would like to know of ALL caches in the vicinity. (Most would naturally select NSW & perhaps coords, un...

Re: Trig points - a general discussion
That photo looks like a bolt in the ground, and nothing more. However, if some old maps refer to that point as a "Trig", it's a Trig! If it's on maps as a survey mark, not a trig. If a plate next to it stating "so & so trig", then it's a trig, but I don't see such a plate there. That's generally how...

Drive fast. Grab the co-ords on the smart phone as I'm holding the wheel with my knees. Fling the film canister out of the window. List a new cache while I'm screaming down the freeway home. I can throw these down at the rate of about 10 a minute giving 161m separation at an average speed of 100km/...

Re: Cachers who refuses to sign the log book
Yes, I would take a picture of the cache! And depending on the hide, whether it was a mere box or cleverly hidden, I would post the pic with the log for the former, and send the pic to the CO for the latter. I have even written several times on the cache container - along with others! But that is no...
