Maybe - but the US didn't appreciate the analogy - the same post was locked within 15 minutes on the geocaching.com forum Shortly afterwards, I received this private from the moderator Mtn-Man... "You know that we have asked several times for people to please drop the tsunami arguments. You just had...

An analogy...

Soon after the Asian Tsunami, a player came up with a very novel idea... He felt very sorry for the victims of the disaster and thought it would be a good idea if he and other players could organise a charity appeal for the Tsunami victims based on the game that they played. The player wasn't sure i...

Hi Piggy...

Not sure if you had already counted this, but my employer has readily agreed to match my donation $ for $... Although the CFO is not a geocacher, I'm sure you could count this towards the total as well... (or is that against the rules?)

Cheers,
Leek

I understand why the topic has been brought up now and on the face of it, the idea is logical, but I'm not sure that it is a good idea... If you form an association (National or State based), it will raise/create many issues that do not exist if we remain as a loosely associated group of individuals...

i! shared this link with me... I hope they don't mind me passing it on... There are two sets of astounding photos from a relief crew in Khao Lak that will really bring home the extent of the devastation... Click here... In particular, check out this one I'm still extremely angry about what happened ...

I for one am more upset now, at having to feel my charitable effort has now turned possibly into geocaching armmageddon. Turning members and countries against each other. (So how crap do you think I feel ??) think about it... TP... Don't feel bad... You haven't caused armageddon - others have... Pe...

P L E A S E J U S T L E T I T G O ! ! ! Sorry , but I don't think we should... their decision is purely hypocrytical considering the scale of this disaster and their support for the 9/11 cache... I would urge all Aussie's that have expressed an opinion here to also express it there Cheers & well me...

Sorry... but I cannot let this one go... This US-centric attitude has gone on long enough... While I realise that geocaching is about planting boxes in the bush, I cannot see that Piggy's cache was doing any harm... I have been approached by my photography club to donate, I have been approached at w...

Thought you might like to see this The "Donate Blood" cache after Sept 11. I'd love to have a look at it... but I can't get into the original Tsunami cache or the cache that you mentioned... and I can't logon to the gc.com site... Maybe I've been barred due to my strong comment on the cache... or m...

I was pretty shocked that it would even enter someone's head that I would make a charitable donation just so I could log a cache find, so I have already changed mine to a note... To me this cache appeal was a prompt from a community that I belong to... nothing more... And Hell... if you can get a sm...

I was going to give them a very eloquent spray - but they've closed the topic and said they will close any other topics about this cache - So much for the "land of the free"...

What a bunch of idiots... However, even though the cache has been archived, you can still post logs to it... You should see some of the comments from the ever-so-anal seppos on the secondary forums: "all the finds should be turned into notes. Otherwise finders are profiting from the death of all tho...
